So, I know there is the EQ2Interface site that has tons of great mods to download. But what I don't know is which ones are worth it?

I'm not that big into the eye candy, I just want functionality. Things that you think should have just been included with the game.

Which mods/addons (that are legal, of course) do you guys use? I'm very interested in checking some out.

Thanks,

~Stri

EQ2Map. Hands down the single most useful mod you will ever install for EQ2. Get it now. In fact if you are still reading this post at this point then you aren't understanding the urgency with which you must install that mod. Go. Now. Must.

Another good utility (not really a mod I suppose) is ACT (Advanced Combat Tracker). Customizable to give you specific damage, healing, and other outputs from battles to help you noodle out all sorts of useful combat information.

You might also want to check out the Penta style stand-alone maintained spells window on eq2interface. It's snazzy as it has full text of each maintained spell (no relying on just the icon) as well as a real-time tick-down of the spell durations (know exactly when your DoT/Ward/etc is going to run out).

not adding anything, but those two are The Two I use constantly.
Saves a hell of a lot of time finding things in world and parsing what actually happened in that intense 10 second battle :) (/wry tounge in cheek grin)

EQ2map like stated, and I just found myself downloading and falling in love with Profit reborn UI. I've been playing EQ2 off and on for years and never bothered with a new UI. Now Im kicking myself for taking so long.

I use ThorUI auto updater. The only real gripe I have about it is that it automatically splits your chat channels up into a number of tabs which I find to be an absolute pain in the *****

EQ2 map is nails, no one should be without it.

ACT combat tracker is a great parser. Not necessary but it can give you an idea where you are DPS wise and you can figure out where to pick it up. Also if you raid it can time out aoe and such.

Not really the selection available for WoW but since EQ2's UI is so customizable already it isn't much of an issue.

Edit - Teamspeak/Ventrilo. Not a mod but it is great to have, I used to be against it since it killed the vibe to have Grimthor the Troll Warrior talking to you in a pitchy teenage voice. However I have since fallen in love with it since actually being able to hold a real time conversation with someone you have played with for years is awesome, really builds on community of the guild.
