Referenced Memory Could Not Be Follow

Hello,

I used to play Everquest BETA and release for about five years. I took quite a long brake from playing and decided to get my life into order.

Now that my life's in order I'd like to play again. I went out and bought two copies of Everquest II (I used to five box in Everquest, six box if nobody was on to hunt with) and decided to load one last Friday Night.

Everything went well, no issues until I reached the Play Button to (from assumption) get to the Character Creation Screen. At that point it loaded, the cursor changed to what I presume to be the in game cursor and then crashed. A message came up stating:

The instruction at "0x004142a5" referenced memory at "0x02930744"

The memory could not be "read"

I struggled all weekend, looking up new video drivers, running virus scans, defragging, googling information regarding this still to no avail. Finally I came to work today with the intent to call SOE and discuss this issue.

During my wait for West Coast Open Hours, I thought possibly it was Microsoft. I went and typed in the message there and found a section regarding this exact message.

If anyone has an answer to this issue prior to my phone call to SOE (LoL, I almost said Verant) or the Service Pack update it's stating I should do via Microsoft, please let me know. I just want to play. It's been so long since I had time to myself, and now that I have a nice job and a little time to burn, I'd like to do it with all of you in Everquest II.

Please assist any way anyone can.

Thank you.

I would post this in the everquest 2 tech support forums when they come back up later today...

Are you on a laptop by any chance?
