I am a newbie starting out. There are a number of races that have different starting stats. My question is, " are there other racial differences between classes such as infravision etc.?"

Yeah, varying sight abilities, and omse races don't have sight ability, but it doesn't matter, I never use mine anyway.

And you get racial traditions at lvls 10, 20, 30, 40 etc.
that you can choose. Like faes can glide.
