Hey,

I hopped on the MMORPG bandwagon about a year and a half ago with WoW, and loved it. I leveled a character, and then grew bored, and stopped for a bit. I do not play much, and have recently started playing LOTRO, which is very fun as well. I never really thought about EQ as I heard it was not the most fun, and not many classes could solo well. I have recently been looking into EQII and it seems like a lot of fun. I just have a few questions, some may seem stupid, but I don't really care.

1. Are the professions (i.e. Warlock and Wizard) like classes in WoW, as in they can all be leveled completely? Also, there seems to be a lot of classes, are they all supported well with spells and such, and can most be played solo and not be killed all the time?

2. I enjoy to solo most of the time, doing small groups the rest. Is there enough content to do mainly solo, or is the game very heavily reliant on group content.

Answers to these would be very helpful, and any additional advice, info would be helpful too.

Thanks!

All classes can solo. How well they do is completely different. EQ2 was designed around grouping. with you comming from a WoW background you may not like it too much, but once you get into playing it, youll prefer to group.

Like I stated before, you can solo. The is plenty of solo content. However most of the content is geared towards grouping, and some for raids.

Id suggest giving it a try. Try to give it an open mind, and pick a class that you want to play, not something you think will be needed.

Easier solo classes are Conjuror's and Necromancer's.

There is solo content from level 1 all the way to 70. If you want to yes, you can solo any class to the level cap. Some classes will be slower solo'ing than others (priests for example don't kill very fast, being mainly healers and all). That said, you will only be seeing half the game if you only solo. You say you like grouping from time to time. This is good as a large chunk of the content requires group strength to tackle.

Due to kids and time zones, I rarely group :) Mind you, you can't do some of the cooler stuff - like Heritage Quests - without eventually getting a group. But there is plenty to do in the game in you don't care for the group dynamic.

edited due to baby helping me post :)

Alot like you I enjoyed playing WOW and played solo almost all of the time. After I switched to EQ2, I didnt have much of a problem soloing with my necromancer. In fact it was alot of fun. Of coarse their are places you simply cant go and mobs you cant kill by yourself no matter how great your equipment is. You can get around some of this by doing as much of a quest as possible solo, then joining a small group to finsh it. Joining a large casual guild also helps by giving you more access to help when you need it most(and a never ending stream of convo flowing across your screen to keep you from getting bored while grinding). Exmp...."Executioners" guild on the "unrest" server. I did eventually find that grouping was more enjoyable in this game than WOW and they are not to hard to find.

As Gamehigh said, you can get most of the quest done solo, then chances are there will be a pick-up group looking to do the tougher bits - a load of other people who have soloed the easier bits.
