How has it changed?Follow

I played EQ2 for about a year a while ago. I quit and went to WoW with a friend..and WoW is getting boring quick. Everything revolves around combat. When I played EQ2, there was lots to do that didn't involve combat-Have they changed that? I keep hearing about carpets and worgs? There used to be only horses.. Is PvP balanced? They had just introduced dueling when I was playing..How does the new class system..work? And anything else would be great.

It's so hard to answer the "what's changed" question, because they've worked really hard on the game. Over all it's a well-ballanced, exciting FUN game.

As for your questions:

There's still lots to do in the game. Tradeskilling and harvesting are the big no-combat activities, but I've noticved there's more than a few quests that don't involve slaying monsters.

Yes, there's mounts that are not horses! Wargs, flying carpets, and tinkered hovering platforms come to mind. There's also a really big variety of horses now. Some are quested, some are crafted, some are purchased with cash or faction. Here's a warg.

I don't PvP, no clue.

There's not really a "new" class system, they just took out the class/subclass bit. You start as a brigand or templar or whatever instead of as a fighter or priest.

Ah..How do you "Craft" a horse? Heh. What are these "transmuting" and "tinkering" things? So how do betrayal quests work now? Do you revert back to level 1-6 as a new subclass? Because I really want a Ratonga ranger, but I have to start as an assassin, don't I? Or can I just betray at level 1?

I think betrayal can be done as low as level 10, not 100% sure on that tho.
If you want a rat ranger then make it a assassin first and do the betrayal quest, it will become a ranger at your current level with all and you keep all your inventory.
Subclasses were removed long before I started playing. Betrayal quests are also a lot more easy to do, or quicker I guess then they used to be.

Horses aren't crafted :) The Hovering PLatforms are crafted, though.

Tinkering and transmuting are secondary tradeskills, meaning they work a little differently than the primary tradeskills and you can do them in addition to everything else.

When betraying alignments, you don't go back to a low level. You stay the level you are, your class may change (depending on what you started as), and your spell ranks are reset (because you changed classes).

You should just jump in and do it!

I am really interested in trying out a Betrayal. How do I begin? Let's say i would like to make a Ogre Templar, what should I do to begin my betrayal quest?

I appreciate all your time and efforts,
Azeccia.
