Too late to start?Follow

Hey there, I played this game long ago when it was still just a shell of a game. I've heard its' gone through some serious changes, but I've also seen that there have been 3 (almost four) expansions since my leaving. I would like to know if it's too late to start anew.

Is this game going in the same direction as EQ1?

Is all the older content, such as raids and dungeons, being left unplaid because of all the new levels?

Nope, it's not too late. We have a healthy new population, whether they're new players, refugees from other games, or people rolling alts. It's also easy for higher level folks to come play with you, thanks to the mentoring system.

Come on in!

Too late? Never. Plain and simple.
Yes, there may be all these new expansions and such, but the original zones still have plenty of challenges for those characters just starting their adventures. Not everyone needs to jump to DoF or KoS or EoF... EverFrost still sends chills down my spine (all puns intended) and lets face it... the Prismatic Quest line doesn't take you to any of those other zones, it's all original EQ2 zones.
There's lots to see and do, no worries. Welcome back!

Heh it is never to late to start! There are plenty of low levels and newbies coming every day so you will find low levels. Usually people dont group untill 20+ but ive been in some lower level groups on alts heh. Try the trial first and see if you like it then buy it if you do.

Its not at all to late to start. The expansions have added nice new content but the main core areas are certainly still in business (sometimes too much). The population is friendly, mature and strong. New players join all the time. However, I would shell out the extra dough to get the expansions due to the fact that aa points have been added. The sooner you start to aquire points, the sooner you can take advantage of all of the cool abilities that comes with them. You cant start to get points until you hit level 10 though. Enjoy!!!

According to many dev and SOE officials the game is in it's prime and SOE is extremely motivated in taking measures to attract new and old players back into the game. They anticipate many more years of quality EQ2 action and they are very optimistic on having several more expansions in the future. One, The return of Kunark, expansion is due out in early November.

So, to answer your question. It is certainly not too late to begin playing. Infact many might agree that, now is the best time to begin playing Everquest II. Especially since there is now, four starting cities to play in. And the latest two offer some really good content. Give it a try and see for your self =)

I just started playing about 3 months ago. I am very happy with the abundance of solo content and group oriented content. Basically, there is always something worthwhile to do. Finding a group has never been a chronic problem. Granted, there are times when it is a little bit difficult to get a group, but like I said, there is plenty of stuff to do to keep you occupied in the mean-time. I have yet to actually start a tradeskill because I haven't had the time to do it; I've been too busy with quests and leveling (and the quests give you most of your experience for leveling). There is very little grinding in this game.

In other games a typical conversation goes like this:

"Whatcha doin?"
"Just grinding, you?"
"Same...grinding"
"I'm bored..."
"Yeah, me too"

In EQ2, it goes like this:

"Whatcha doin?"
"Working on my [Insert quest name] quest, you?"
"Cool I haven't done that one yet, mind if I join ya?"
"Sure, come on over"
"Wanna gather a group for [Insert instance name here] after this?"
"Yeah, sounds fun!"
"Have you started your [Insert Heritage quest here] HQ yet?"
"Not yet, been busy working on [Insert other HQ]"
"Cool, I did that one last week, the last part can be a bit tricky, lemme know if you need a hand."
"Cool, thanks"

It's actually a AWESOME time to start EQ2 with the new population rolling new characters. I do want to make it clear that you're likely to have more lower level players to exp with if you roll an evil toon due to the newly arrived Arasai.
