tryed Trial, wondering if i should buy?Follow

Well i finally downloaded the free trial. It took me 25hours lol. It does remind me a little of WoW. Same gameplay just way better graphics. Anyway what i was wondering if i choose to enter my credit card number will i still be able to go to Qeyons or freeport with out any other downloads that could take another 20+hours.

Another question is when i go to the main city will i be all alone? Because in the free trial island i was the only one there and felt like i was playing WoW again lol. Can any of you guys give me a good realm to go to with players that like to group and do quest? I just love grouping and chatting with other ppl.

i personally would recommend it after playing other games like WoW and vanguard. from all other games ive played over the past 3 years nothing compares to EQII imo, others might disagree but i cant speak for them, only myself. i personally see more of a chance to build a fun huge mmo world from eq2 than any other game. i will agree with people who might talk of the worse parts of eq2 that atm it is in a lull, in between expansions, but as a noob toon that would be the time you could use to grow and when the new content comes out be ready to move and grow right into it. if you wanted to play a new character in an area more populated, i would say create an evil toon in the city of neriak, or a good toon in the city of kelethin. these are the 2 newer starting cities, the origional cities of qeynos and freeport, while still heavely populated with higher lvl toons, lacks many more new players , although there are some, from myself trying to play alts in these cities recently it seems that many of the people styarting toons in the old cities are trying to solo the old world noob zones.

I recently played the trial and joined EQ2 full time. As a noob wandering around the citys I have been impressed by the amount of low level toons I have met and the ease of finding a group.

Looking at Eq 1 , Wow and LOTR over all EQ2 is more enjoyable to me. Better graphix and more mature community than Wow, More solo content than Eq1 by a long shot and great lore.

THe only knock so far is looking for a guild. Like all MMO's there are lots that spam looking for members finding what I am looking for has been a little hard, but im sure its out there.

Rocket, something was wrong with your route or something. That download was a fluke. It was massively out of whack. A normal fresh install doesn't normally even take half that long to pull down. In any case, you've now downloaded the primary files. Don't be afraid to get off the island. You won't have to redownload everything.

What Stu said. Downloading the complete game, with expansions, is about 8 hours. A lot of people have reported slow download times lately, makes me wonder if some major router was down in the States somewhere and forcing the 'net to take "slower" paths.

First, never believe the download time estimator's first estimate. Never :) It's wonky.

Second, if you're not making decent progress after a couple of hours, stop the dowload and start again. (It won't re-download what you already have.)

And to answer your original question here - yes it is worth buying the main game.
With the release of Echoes of Faydwer a lot of new players came to the game, and the introduction of Neriak has caused a lot of new characters to be created there - probably why the island was empty.

If you buy the EoF retail pack (not the digital download) you will get the main game and all expansions. This means EQ2, Desert of Flames, Kingdom of Sky and Echoes of Faydwer all for one price.

In November a new expansion is due - The Rise of Kunark and I already know a few people who have come back to the game because of this. So we are getting new players all the time, and as I said people are making new characters also.

Definately buy the entire game. Go get the EoF from the store though, Raven's right. That way you get the whole thing right up front. I've done WoW, EQ1 for a LONG time, DAOC and many of the others, look where I've come back to. I admit it's because I wanted to play a Fae, was THRILLED they put in dark fae too and haven't regretted leaving WOW yet. I have started fresh after being gone for several years, patches, improvements, changes etc, it seemed the wise thing to do. There are new ones of us out there with no mmorg exp, there are those of us out there starting out trying new classes or old classes and relearning, but we're out there.

Hi all,

i've done the step to eq2 may be 4 weeks ago and i think it was a good step.

Before i've done this i've played the trial an have done my first try's on the starter-iland. These two days i was really alone there; maybe one or two other players, but not more.

After starting with the full version i've created my first Charakter beneath neriak and i was impressed about all the other players there.

Act. my main Char has reached lvl 39 and all the time there were many charakters with a matching level to play with them.

ot: Meenwhile i've created sev. twink's an it's a real fun to explore the differnt Rasses and Classes.

After 18 month Guild Wars it seems to me that eq2 is a really big and wonderfull world to explore and it's a real good choice if i see the other mmorpg on the marked.

The updates never take as long as the first download - you'll live through that. If you like to group and do quests find yourself a good guild with like minded players. It took me 3 tries to do that, guilds can be vastly different in play styles. but I am finally in a guild that is fun, loves questing, and has other players are almost always there to help if you need help. And the guild has plenty of tradeskillers to make you the armor or spell that you need without spending a fortune on the broker. Makes playing the game a whole lot more fun which I think is the reason we all do this.
