Hello,
I was originally pumped about getting this game as a needed break from WoW, so I purchased the EoF expansion pack. After downloading the game I was dissapointed because the graphics were real "dark". I couldn't see the enemies well. And the fighting was annoying because it would pause and lag when I would attack someone. I eventually uninstalled the game assuming my system is too old to run it. However, at that time I only had 712 RAM. I now have 1 g of RAM, and a GeForce 6600gt on my Dell 4550. Should I give it another try? Will the extra RAM help, or should I just chalk it up to an out-of-date computer and move on? Sorry for the long question.

The memory and video card will really help, although I wouldn't put it on max settings. The darkness issue can be corrected usually by adjusting the Gamma in the Options menu.

Unless your problem was an antique monitor, like me, lol.

If you've been downloading for 22 hours something is wrong. Stop the download and try again. 8 hours is about par for the full game.

It's not just your connection or SOE's servers, it's also your actual route through the internet. Sounds like something bottlenecked somewhere.

I played EQ2 when it originally was released. I recently returned from WOW and brought my r/l g/f with me , who also played WOW and FFX1, meaning I had to buy her all the exp plus original content and me the new expansions. I installed both pc's starting about 3 pm and we were both playing by 7 that nite with 2 pc's downloading and 1 of the pc's never having EQ2 before, so the wait is not long at all as long as ya have the comp to do it.
