Level 70 Paladin and 1st raid......Follow

Morning all,

After four years and many switches between MMoRPGs, my Pally dinged level 70 this past weekend! It happened in the SoS while pursuing the Claymore Quest line. 25 days of adventuring playtime and he is maxed until the next expansion comes out.

Many firsts for me this weekend...

1.) Dinged 70

2.) Participated in my first raid ever.

3.) Looted 3 fabled items of the raid in Labs of Vyemm.

My thoughts on the raid...

Luckily, the raid group had run through this zone 100's of times before and therefore anything related to Pally equipment was mine if I wanted it. They were very generous and it was a great time. We did not finish the zone since we only had about 12 people and couldn't handle the last pull despite splitting the mobs correctly.

I noticed from the beginning that unless the Pally is the Main tank or Main assist, there is hardly any reason for a pally to be in a raid. Since I was neither, I was reduced to group heals and adding some very small dps. This is slightly disconcerting. Sure, I have Lay On Hands which can be used in an emergency but it hardly qualifies for a "must have".

Therefore, I have mixed feelings regarding dinging 70. It's really neat to be max level. However, I realized that my skills aren't really needed in the end-game.

I would like the experienced players thoughts on this matter!

lacks of raid experience comes from a crappy broadband wireless modem that drops signal constantly (I live in the boonies) Allows for slight annoying soloing but can't handle the massive amount of bandwidth required for a raid, or even a group for that matter. I was at a buddies place that had a cable modem for this raid.
