Looking for a little help.Follow

Hi, I'm starting EQ2 tommarrow (yay for me), and I'm looking for a little insite to the healing classes. I have always been a healer (Whm in FFXI, Priest in WoW), so I know how to play a healer, but there was never 6 differnt classes!

This is what I know (or think I know) so far.

Defiler: Looks like a heavy buff class, and has some "ward" spell.
Mystic: A debuffer class, and "ward" spells.

Fury: Ok dps, and single target HoT spells.
Warden: Lower dps then Fury, but some AoE HoT spells.

Inquisitor: Big heals slow casts, and debuffs.
Templar: Big heals slow casts, and buffs.

I'm not sure if I'm right on this stuff but this is what I gather from what I have read.
I know all healers are loved in groups/raid (healer = group) but is there any healers that are more loved then others? Can any of them solo (I know all classes can but what one does it the best)?

All in all I'm looking for a fun class that I wont have a problem getting a group with and that can some what hold it's own. I'm looking to raid come end game, and do some duo with a pally sometimes.

Thank you all for you time and any wisdom that you wish to share

A little late with a reply here so you've probably figured it all out by now anyway. But I'll tell you what I know, having played all healers except for warden and mystic. MInd you, I've never reached end-game, so can't help you there.

You've got it pretty much spot on in your post. Furies solo well and have good HoT's. They do quite well for damage and believe it or not, I've topped the parse with my 42 fury. He's been the MH (main healer) and has no trouble in that role.

I rerolled my fury for a templar, because everyone at the time told me they were wanted in end-game. Good heals, the plate armor keeps you standing should you get agro. The templar also has some reactive heals as well as it's big heals. But really sucks to solo, takes a long time to bring down a mob, which makes writs and questing a chore.

Playing an inquisitor arasai at the moment and loving it. Still sucks to solo but nowhere near as much as the templar. Instead of the templar's reactive heals, the Quizzy has reactive damage spells. Both the inquisitor and templar share the same main heals and wear plate.

I've never had any trouble getting a group with any healer, though again, I can't say how it is in endgame.

(Also a bit late, but better late than never)

I'm an EQ1 vet healer, so like you I'm fully aware of how to play the class.

I have a Warden and a Templar, a Mystic and a brand new Defiler. Playing the Warden first I thought it would be a good round healer class. My only problem is in big heals. I group mostly with two other characters a Ranger and Monk/Pally. We did few writs and I'm up to 27 (at the time) and found out I couldn't keep them alive during some of the larger things we were doing. Had I been a templar of that rank I could have.

So.. thus began the charge through a templar to bring one up to the same level as my Warden. I have to agree with the second poster here. HECK to solo takes an aweful long time to bring down the mob when having to heal thyself right in the midst of heated battle and hoping not to get interrupted.

Giving a defiler and mystic the test as well hoping for a more rounded solo capability but after reading second poster I think I'll give fury a whirl too.

I love my templar though that healing feeling and keeping my group living is just what I do duh... It's funny I can't sit back and watch another cleric in my group try to keep me alive.

..... stuck in the role of a healer but with no regrets.....
I hope I've offered some insight or at least some confirmation.
