Religion & PoliticsFollow

Is it a /reportable offence when someone in level or crafting chat etc. begins inciting argument by bringing up such things as religion and politics? Many people have strong feelings in those areas and it never takes long before a chatwide yelling match has begun. Not that reporting seems to do much but it at least makes me feel like something *should* be done.
I for one play this game to enjoy myself and sometimes I have to log out or turn off all my chat channels because I also have strong feelings in those areas and I really can't handle it; it makes me very angry.
People get reported for swearing or spamming, and in my opinion those things aren't nearly as offensive as some of the things some people come up with. I have toons on 3 different servers and some servers are definitley worse than others.

Gnome.

Nothing you can do about it - some people just enjoy instigating flame wars on the game chat. Just bail out from chat channels as necessary - don't let them get to ya.

Unfortunately I don't believe that discussing real world issues in0game is against the terms of service. I hate it when that happens to. I just tend to add such people to my ignore list and move on. /ignore username - You will never see another word from that person.

See, I am the complete opposite. I love when the channels are full of real world stuff, even though I play on an RP server. It keeps me quite entertained. I will never start an argument, but I sure as heck will engage when necessary. This is not to say I think people should have to turn off the channel to stop it. If someone starts complaining, the discussion usually dies down.

If possible, I would recommend asking them if they could start their own channel and discuss it in there so everyone does not have to be subjected. If they start cussing and using vulgarities toward you, *then* you can report them. If they agree, then you have your channel back. Either way, everyone wins!

If they start talking prOn or sex or using vulgar language, you can /report them (always /report then /petition, and say you sent the /report, it's evidence). Otherwise, alas, your only real recourse is /ignore or leaving the channel.

Just like changing bar stools when the @ss next to you won't shut up about the same kind of issues.

honestly, its the same people over and over again. so if you just /ignore the people who start it, you can normally save you self a lot of spam.

hehe...hate to be blunt but - welcome to the internet. I've already accepted that there are people who i perceive as whacko with 110% polar opposite views on the entire world than me...all over the place! Most of the time the most inane of comments are from people who if you met them in real life, wouldn't hold any significance to you anyway. So I try n let it go :) If it truly bugs you *that* much though I would just use ignore. I mean - no loss in never talking to them again right? :D

NEver know what they can ban though. I mean they ban peopel for language that the filter WILL block. I understand if people alter words or type other more obscure swears that the filter doesn't pick up on. But some people blatently report people who say stuff that they enabled them to say. The internet is ******* nuts :p ;)

That's 'cause if you read the Code of Conduct you'll see that the existance of the bad word filter doesn't mean that foul language is okay.

Quote:
3. Foul language is not permitted, in any language.

Excessive use of foul language in an inappropriate context, including swear words, real-world racial slurs, and other language that is not consistent with the fantasy environment and designed to hurt, will be considered a disruption and will not be tolerated. The existence of the filter (/filter) is not a license to be profane.
