Ok, so with the addition of Neriak, and of course the EoF expansion as a whole, we're seeing a very large push to add EQ1 content into the game. I for one am thrilled about this. My question to you is what zone / feature / mechanic would you like to see added to the game that is in EQ1?

My answer, Planes of Power. There are many EQ purists who say PoP somehow ruined the game, but I for one loved it. I would love to see the Planes come back somehow. It would be a great way to add the raid progression that many are looking for.

Side note, probably a bad idea to include the Plane of Knowledge... imagine the lag.

Planes of Power was the beginning of the decline in the early to mid game experience in EQ1. It trivialized all world travel and turned the end-game into an endless flagging process. The fastest way to get half of the old school EQ1 players to quit EQ2 would be to implement PoP. It was the most poorly executed expansion in EQ1 history.

As for what I'd like to see: Odus Odus Odus. Bring back the home of the Erudites and Kerrans. The political and philosophical conflict between Erud and Paineel. The crossing. The Isle. The woods. The best EQ1 dungeon in The Hole. So much diversity on one continent...would make a stellar addition.

Like I said, I know a lot of people hated PoP. But I think if it were implemented correctly it could provide some very good end game / raid content. Yes, it did trivialize travel, but IMHO so do Mariners Bells (not the most solid argument, I know, but nevertheless...). The actual raids though, if done correctly, could prove to the benefit of the game. Raid progression is something people ask about, that would be one way of presenting it. Again though, no Plane of Knowledge.

Or just the original Planes, I'll settle for those too :)

I agree with you completely on Odus, I'd love to see that make its way to EQ2. I'd also love to see Luclin completely reformed by the gods someday.

I would love to see Odus and Lucan return.

Burning Rapier/Redemption quest. By far the most engaging and best scripted EQ1 quest ever.

I prefer new lore and unique EQ2 content to be added. There is no way to recapture the "good old days".

Hopefully this will end up with RoK, but the zone i loved alot in eq1 that i hope makes it into eq2 is the lake of ill omen. Spend so much time at that damn saranak fort and that windmill. A very cool mid level zone imo.
I also would love to see an implementation of some sort of the tower of frozen shadow and eastern\western wastes area from SoV.

I'm hoping that's just a typo and that you mean Luclin. I never played EQ1, but I do (at least, I think) know the lore, and I don't see Luclin returning anytime soon, since the moon was shattered by the gods.

This is true, but if the gods can destroy it I'm sure they could reform it. According to the lore Luclin and Planes were destroyed as the gods left Norrath. Now that the gods have returned (some of them anyway) it stands to reason that the lore could be written to have Luclin restored.

Looking up at it there seem to be some fairly large pieces up there....plenty of room for several new zones.

PoP was not the most poorly executed expansion, Gates of Discord was, with GoD the casual player couldn't even experience most of the early parts of the expansion not to mention how thrown together and buggy the expansion was at launch.

Well before the new expansion was unvieled I would have said Kunark, but since that is already coming out I would have to say Velious was a fun place to roam around. I came into EQ when PoP was released so I never really got to enjoy all the fun that people did when the AoW was a contested mob, and raids into PoG, but I think Veeshan's land should "resurface" or whatever the old lands do when they become live again.
