Yes, I know. Move it to the TS boards. Well, we all know how popular they are.

Anywho, was wondering if any of you transmuters out there know if the Chitin armor in SS (the armor set you can purchase after completing the Beetle Herding quest line) is transmutable. I am highly doubting it, but that would be sweet if it was.

If it's Treasured or better it *should* be transmutable.

Really?! Holy mackerel. I don't have a transmuter high enough yet, and I don't know if I should say anything (damn morals), but that would be a huge exploit. The armor is indeed treasured and is on sale from a merchant. Each piece becomes available to you after you have completed the respective part of the quest line (i.e. Beetle Herding: Act I opens up one piece, Beetle Herding: Act II opens another, etc.) and only costs 1c. I haven't tried this yet, but I believe you can continue to buy the items from that merchant. So buy, munge, sell/use fragments, buy, munge, sell/use fragments ad infinitum. Hmmm. I really need confirmation on this now.

Edit: you may be right. Bet it's tagged non-transmutable. OH! Is it NO-VALUE? Bet it is to prevent people from vendor farming it. NO-VALUE is not transmutable.

Right, but you have an unlimited supply of items. You spend 1c and can sell the byproducts for 5 or 6 gold. And you can continue to do this to your hearts content. It seems like an exploit of the system, but maybe it's just smart. I wish I had a transmuter high enough to experiment.

No. It is not no-value. It sells back to vendors for 1c a piece.
See for yourself. All the pieces are like that.

Edit: There is also the chance that you can only purchase it once. I have never purchased the armor, so I can't say for sure.

Well, I conducted the first part of my research last night. You can indeed continue to buy the armor for as long as you want. I purchased it, destroyed it and repurchased it so that part will work. Unfortunately, I could not find a high enough level transmuter to enact the second part of my plan. I will try again tonight and see if it works.

An update for those who care:

The Beetle Herding quest items are non-transmutable. Oh well. I thought I had found a cash cow. Back to the grind.
