Good Morning, AllaK's - 5/4/07Follow

Good morning, happy campers.

I actually didn't get the chance to log in last night. After work my son had a baseball game after which I took the family out to dinner (Carollo's on Rt.130 in Pennsauken, NJ..good stuff). Went home and fired up the computer, but didn't get far into it before Lost came on. Sent the kids off to bed and got ready for some good TV.

So in lieu of an in-game morning update, a discussion question for the class. One thing we all know we have in common is that we (hopefully) enjoy playing EQ2. But what else could there be? What keeps you busy when the servers are down? What do you do to pass the time when the woman is on your case about being on that "damn computer" too much? When you break form the game, what drives you? As for myself, I'm a console gamer. Wii and PS2 currently. I love DDR. Huge sports guy (Hail to the Redskins!). I've just recently started trying to get into running (Nike+iPod ftw). I like fooling around with musical instruments even though I suck at all of them and can't play two notes together to save my life.

How was your evening, and what do you do when Norrath isn't an option?

Been really busy with my new baby girl (born 4/18). The late night feedings allows me some time to log in and mess around. Although, I'm not much use in my pick up groups trying to dps, balance baby and hold bottle. Good thing for macros!

In response to Stu's question, I tend to read alot if I'm not playing. I just devour anything from Forgotten Realms (not a big fan of Eberron though). I also hit the gym for weights and cardio 3-4 times a week. My favorite pasttime is drinking beer though.

Logged my Illusionist alt last night and dinged 10. Having fun in the Forest Ruins!

As for what I do when the servers are down, or just want to take a break... read, mostly. sometimes I write. or I'll work on some minor programming projects or hang out with friends. most of the time, if it's just the hourly maintenance, i use the time to cram as many household tasks as possible into the downtime LOL

Pensauken... hmmm... I guess i'll have to trek out that way from Freehold sometime, see what the food's like...

That changes everything, doesn't it? When my oldest was born (geez, he's 4 now, time flies!) I got really into tradeskills in EQ1, since he was colicky and I didn't have both hands, ever. I was an EQ1 raiding bard while nursing a fussy infant, lol. And that's pretty much when I discovered that my kids were more important than taking down dragons.

What do I do when I can't play? Well, around here there's always something, if only the unending laundry, but most often I'm doing little cosmetic fixes on our condo. We'd like to sell it and get a house some time before the end of the world, and after 17 years here there's a lot of little fix-em-up projects that need to be done. Next on my list is refinishing the kitchen cabinets. Not as involved as it sounds; they're in pretty good shape, they just need a fresh coat of Minwax.

We don't have any consoles; we spend enough time attached to games, I won't have one in the house. I read, mostly sci-fi, in my downtime.

Rondo!

*hands Rondo Password Gorilla. Encrypted, easy. One password to remember for everything. Best, imo, is to have it installed onto a USB key, that way you have all your password encrypted and with you on whatever machine you may be at.

Hey there,

I haven't had a chance to run very much over the past few days either, work has been really busy as of late. Mostly just logging to keep up with the broker sales.

When I'm not holding my dear, sweet, screaming 4 month old daughter, I try to get out in the sunshine. I am a casual disc golfer, and I have been trying to rekindle my love for cycling. Both activities allow me to get out for a few hours and just forget about all of the responsibilities.

I used to play Xbox non-stop, but that sort of lost it's lure once I got into EQ2. My live account for that system expires in a few days and I'm not going to renew this time.

When I can't log due to an update, I'll fire up Neverwinter Nights or Civ3...notice those are both the older versions...EQ2 has completely sucked me in and I haven't lost my interest after 10 months.

Happy Hunting)

Didnt get a chance to raid the other night because our Main tank was MIA for RL issues and we only had 3 healers on. I tossed a guild group together and cleared all EoF instances. Wasnt too bad. Had one of our transmuters dust me some adepts and such. Ive been working on more solo quests when not raiding, trying to get caught up to the rest of the guild in AA's. Its going pretty good. Ive pretty much soloed all soloable EoF quests and am now working on KoS quests that I slacked on. Almost have all of the quests in Barren Sky done now.

I do about 40-60 hours a week of actual work at work. I do about an hours worth of driving time a day if Im just going two and from work, so Id average about 7-10 hours a week of driving time. I raid 10-15 hours a week. On average I get 6 hours of sleep a night for a weekly total of 42 hours a week. I try to cycle or run at least 20minutes a day for a total of 2.5 hours a week. I watch movies/T.V. with my girlfriend who doesnt game at least 5-6 hours a week. Eat, shower, and use the bathroom for what I would estimate a good 5-7 hours a week. I spend at least on average an hour a day cleaning my house, laundry and such.

I dont know. I dont have much in the way of hobbies other then gaming. I use it to wined down from work an such. My life revolves around my carrer right now, everything else comes second. Sadly even my girlfriend, and she knows it. =(

to answer the class discussion, I read, watch TV, fool around on my computer, write threatening letters to Bill Gates (that I will never send b/c I want to continue living) cursing him for Microsoft Vista OS, kick my computer, decide the many ways to dismember and disfigure Gates, hit my computer...in case you haven't figured it out, Vista SUCKS right now. so many damned bugs, leaks memory like a damed sieve...needless to say, yesterday was the kicker. tried going into Neriak on my new arasai and got crash after crash after crash. said ***** this horse**** and reformated my HD and reinstalled XP. I'm not going back to Vista until AFTER the first SP comes out.
