Leaving WoW comming to EQ2Follow

#1 Apr 24 2007 at 9:49 AM Rating: Decent
Greetings,

Well I finally decided to cancel WoW and come over to EQ2. After playing EQ1 for such a long time, I thought I'd firmly entrench myself in EQ2. So much more backstory and history, not to mention all these classes. I'm still trying to determine which class I would like to try, not to mention which side. (Though I am leaning heavily towards freeport.)

I did have a few questions if no one minds.

In end game, can character from both Cities be in the same guild, or are they completely seperate (like WoW)

Are there any quests for "evil" characters in Faydwer? From what I have been reading it seems Faydwer is mostly for "good" characters.

If forced to Solo, how well can A guardian Solo? or Say A SK? Also, how well could a Templar or Inq Solo.

What are classes are guilds mostly looking for in End Game. I remember in EQ Cleric's we're like in Hot demand all the time. Has the trend continued in EQ2.

If anyone has any other recommendations, or Server recommendations feel free to let me know. Or Heck.. If Anyone wants to take a young apprentice under their wing. I don't shine boots but I can fix the dents in your armor! :p

Thanks for reading!

Answers in-line in bold to the best of my knowledge:

For the most part alignments do not affect grouping or guilding. Folk from Freeport can group and guild with folk from Qeynos and vice versa. There are exceptions to this in the form of special rulesets on certain PVP servers, but for the most part it does not apply.

Faydwer has tons of quests for both good and evil aligned characters. In fact most quests can be done by either side. The reason that EoF is said to be "for good characters" is that because there is a starting good aligned city there, they have certain advantages on the continent (more convenient merchants, menders, bankers, brokers, etc.) that evil folks don't have the proper faction to take advantage of. As far as quests go though, there aren't many that are specifically alignment restricted in EoF.

Guardians are not built for solo'ing, but they can do it. SKs are also designed to be tanking for a group, however they have self-healing abilities and a wider variety of damage outputs so solo'ing is more efficient (they are arguably the best solo'ing plate wearer). Templars and Inquisitors can both solo as well, but as a rule of thumb priests in general are going to be slow, slow solo'ers. An INQ may have the slight edge over the templar in this realm due to slightly increased offensive ability, but to be honest I can't say with 100% certainty as I've never personally played a plate healer.

Tough question. The answer changes from server to server and guild to guild. healers are always needed. Demand for the shaman healers seems to be on the rise. Enchanter classes are rare and sometimes highly desired as well. Pretty much every class has a purpose. Pick what you like and I'm sure that when the time comes you'll be able to find a guild that needs your services.

Well, Lucan D`Lere and Antonia Bayle are the RP preferred servers. From what I understand Unrest and Najena are both excellent standard PVE servers. PVP has it's own servers if that's what you are into. The best advice I can give you is to throw a dart at a list and just go with it. The EQ2 community is fantastic and you'll find good people and good guilds on most every server out there. You can't go wrong, really.

Thanks for reading!
