Greetings Everyone

I'm here to seek advice, info, or whatever anyone wants to say.

I've played EQ2 since December of 2004. I have played on and off since then. The terribly sad part is I've never leveled a character higher than low 30's. I'd say probably 2 or 3 I got that high, several others I got to the 20's and even many more just the teens. It seems that whenever I take a break and then start playing again, I feel disconnected from my main character, and get excited at the prospect of trying out a new class. I love trying out new classes and races. The other problem is I find I always hit a wall at certain times where I either have quests too hard for me, or quests to easy and nothing in the middle. I have never done a whole lot of group, some but not alot. How does everyone stick to their main, how does anyone keep going when they hits walls or slow downs? There is so much I want to experience like Buying a Mount, doing dungeon's with groups, going on a raid... getting some high level gear. I just seem to have a hard time. When My main gets stuck or hits a lull, I will either take a break or start a new character. I guess maybe I'm just looking for maybe suggestions or advice that I haven't thought of. Thanks for any responses!

I know that "disconnected" feeling!

When was the last time you tied getting past that wall? I remember waaaay back, there was an awful late-20's wall, it felt like I was grinding garbage in TS forever. In my experience they've taken a lot of those stalls out of the game. there's lots of solo quests and other things to do now.

I also browse the 'Zam Zones by Level list to see if there's somewhere new to go, lol. Ot go try and harvest someplace too high for the toon, that's always a challenge!

You know, could be you're just an alt-aholic :p

Well i been playin EQ2 for about 7-9 months now, all mann, sry to say but you aint doin enough. Well i guess depends on the server you're in. im in a pvp server atm, so theres plenty of things to do. Like, solo questing, harvesting, HQ,gettin a grp is not that hard, if you have reg peeps you grp with, theres always peeps lookn for grps. You can alwayz shout out for grps to form n start questin r if not then find a grp r go solo and pvp. it is alway good to have ALT's. I used to be an xp grinder, but now i mostly focus on pvp, and aa. I want my toon to be fablelishes, when i hit lvl 70. Right now all my toons are locked xp at certain lvls, so i can go n pvp withn every range which will keep me goin. EQ2 Rocks!!!

It's all a matter of focus and of knowing your option. Check out the Zone By Level listing Cal linked. It's possible that there are some great places that you aren't tapping into the potential of. Then again, you could very well be an ALToholic. I have a pal who's the same way. He can't level a character past 26 without stopping and rolling a new one.

The focus on PVE and focus on PVP servers are like apples and oranges, imo. Totally different mindset. It can be hard to level up cause for a while it seems like levels are just easssy but, one the late 20's come and especially 30's, it starts taking a while to hit the next lvl. It's just all about sticking with it. If you grind and group enough on any toon, its inevitable that the toon will level. Rinse and repeat enough and you have a 70.

I think at the core My main problem is i am an ALToholic. But I need to break that! It's so hard! About a month and a half ago i quit when I got my Fury to level 20... I'll try to just login in and start back with him.

Believe me, you're preaching to the choir... Back when my Kerra Wizzy hit 28... from 28 to 35 for some reason those were the WORST levels ever... just seemed to drag on and on, no matter what I did... It was like clock watching when you're having a bad day at work... You're SURE it's 1pm, but when you look up it's only 10am... :)

Just bear with it. btw, you're not alone on the alt-aholic boat... I have a few that I've created and whenever I get tired grinding, I switch over to them for a breather.

Can we take it as a given that you like the characters you've created? I mean that you enjoy playing those classes. Because there is nothing easier (for me) then hitting the delete button on a character that I am not having a blast playing...

That question asked, a few options occur to me. When you hit the wall, there are a bunch of things you can do to bide your time while you work through it. Examples include;

If you happen to be low on vit, it could be a good point to stop, take a breath and do some crafting (and why Calthine didn't mention that, I'll never know!). Crafting will let you develop your character, take your mind off your adventure level and can often be used to create or stimulate an additional revenue stream.

Depending on the specific level, (zero level or two level for example), it might be a good point to upgrade your gear. Nothing slows me down more than taking on mobs in a new tier with last tier's equipment. And conversely, nothing else helps me carve up mobs like as showing up with newly improved weapons/armor/spells.

As an alternative to questing, you could focus on grinding out some writs for a while. These are always a good option for some mindless XP and as a bonus, they also help both your personal and guild status totals.

And finally, you could take a break from XP per se and spend some time exploring locations you haven't spent time in before. As an added bonus here, there will be discovery XP whenever you hit one of those locations for the first time.

Bottom line here is, if you enjoy your character(s) there is no reason you have to shelve them, just find something else for them to do!

Ha! Maybe because I'm the other way around: I adventure when I get a little burnt on crafting...

heres a little info.

1: Not everyone sticks to one character. This is why they allow up to 10 characters per account. I have a 70 SK, 52 Assassin, 30 Coercer, 25 Templar, and a 23 Guardian. Just to name some. Its very difficult to play one character without trying out others. In this case, my Shadow Knight was my first. I created him november 9, 2004. I myself got stuck in levels several times and deviced to play around with alts. In my opinion, you become a better player if you know how to play all the classes.

In the view of a tank, knowing who in your group controls agro better then others with spells, or abilities is something that is good to know. Knowing what healers are better at healing the type of damage you take is also good to know.

2: Getting stuck. When the game first came out, things where much more difficult. No one knew where to level, and back then, you had to quest to "Unlock" zones. For example: Enchanted Lands, Ferrott, Zek, EverFrost where all under lock and key. Back then, you went LFG and worked on solo quests or tradeskilled until you found a group. You can still use this method. Do some research about zones to leveling. Questing isnt always everything. You can grind a bit and experiance other zones.

3: Gear. The best thing to do is play a normal schedule. play the same time every week. For example: You may play 2-3 hours a night between 9pm-1am. Youll find that you start to group with the same people over and over. Maybe join a guild and find guild groups. The more grouping you do, the more gear y oull get. Most groups go need before greed, so as long as you are out there, you have a good chance.
