Is there a free trial?Follow

#1 Apr 12 2007 at 2:21 AM Rating: Decent
I used to play this game ages ago when it first came out but then i switched to WoW.

Well warcraft is getting boring for me now and i was thinking of giving EQ2 another try.

But i dont want to spend money on the discs and subscription only to find that its progressed too far from what i knew.

So i was wondering if theres a free trial for this game like there is in WoW?

Thanks in advance.

Do the Play the Fae. Okay, the Fae can be a bit cutsie for some, but DANG they did a good job on that expansion.

Im currently playing the trial and its reminded me why i used to like this game so much.

So ive ordered the latest expansion for next day delivery.

Also ive persuaded my friend to give the trial a go so add two more players to the converted from WoW to EQ list.

I too have played WoW since forever and it is no longer fun to me. I'm thinking of moving on to something else. I'm certainly not new to MMORPGS, so maybe it's time to get back into a more tradtional one.

Play the Fae takes place in the new expansion, and is just spectacular. The Isle is a little more traditional. In both you'll be able to migrate your characters when you're completely hooked.

I'd do the Play the Fae.

When you go to buy it (you will!) look for a retail box of the Echoes of Faydwer expansion, which includes the base game and all three expansions for around $40. And don't forget, your premium membership at Allakhazam gets you a discount at Gamestop (which coincidently has the retail box).

Very interesting.........hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........

Only one more question before I dive into this..

Are there any heavily over-played classes? For example, the Rogue or Hunter in WoW - everyone and their Grandma has one at the level cap. I find that it's usually better to avoid the popular classes if possible because most people prefer better group dynamics and it's easier to get into good guild (or whatever they are in this game) with needed classes. Just looking toward the future here. Don't want to be sitting at the level cap with no way to progress because no one has need for said class.

Just trying to avoid something like that.

Although, I'm guessing the answer will be, as what it usually is, go with what you find fun. :)

There are definitely some overused classes. Fury is a big one. You can't walk two feet without tripping over a fury. because they are a healing class they are needed for groups, but they are also probably the highest damage output healer in the game, so they also solo slightly more efficiently than the others. This makes them a popular choice among folks who want to try a healing class but may not always be interested in group or have the time to do so. Lots of paladins running around for some reason I can't fathom. Tons of brawlers. Like...for some reason folk want to choose a tank class but be able to say "No I don't tank". it's mind-boggling.

The final answer is, you are correct, play what you want. Really. Even classes that are overused are interchangeable with other classes in a group or raid setting. If you want stability in being able to find groups and spots on raids, I would suggest avoiding plate tanks. The end-game is crowded with 'em. Aside from that go nuts.

Right on. I figured the heavy DD (DPS? DAMAGE DEALING?) classes tended to be the most popular. But that's probably more of a WoW thing.

At any rate, thanks for the advice!

DD is Direct Damage. Or was last time I used it. As opposed to AoE or AE (Area of Effect) Damage.
