Good Morning, AllaK's - 4/11/07Follow

Good morning, happy campers.

So, let's see. Last night I logged in to help a pal finish off some quests. Found out that the final Blades instance is a weeeee bit too much to handle for two fighters at the effective level of 56. Ran out and did Shimmering Citadel access real quick and began work on Poet's Palace access. Didn't get far into it before I remembered...HOLY FRIJOLES! Super Paper Mario is in stores today! At this point I promptly logged out and played Super Paper Mario until my eyes bled.

How was your evening?

I finished my words of pure magic quest. Cheesenrice that is a long quest if luck is not on your side. It took me 4 hours to get the last three I needed (I snagged the first one out of pure dumb luck while running for my life in Zek). I tried EF first for the EF/Lava shrine, but it wasn't up. So I headed into Lavastorm. Oh boy. I had no idea what was in store for me. This experience provided an insight into the hell hole that is Lavastorm. This is what I came up with:

1. LS is not, by any stretch of the imagination, solo friendly.

2. Lava is a harsh mistress. It can and does kill you immediately. You do not get the chance to revive to a certain point. You hit the lava and 20 seconds later you are back on the shores.

3. The only respawn points are the beach and the docks. Dying when you get to the temple is quite frustrating. See below for further explanation.

4. Trying to shake off unexpected aggro is nearly impossible. Sure, you can hit sprint and try to outrun the ^^^heroic mob while trying to dodge the 8 or 10 5-strong groups of heroic aggro mobs, the lava, the pitfalls into the lava, the craters of lava and the skinny bridges hanging precariously over the lava, but what's the point really.

5. The Temple of Solusek Ro (well, what I saw of it) is scary. Period.

6. If you managed to get all the way to the temple while using a stealth totem which runs out when you get to the temple path that looks absolutely free of danger, don't get too excited. Triggered mobs will spawn and kill you. You now must respawn at the beginning. Yay!

7. If you remembered to make sure you were stealthed through the temple path this time, don't get too excited. You will inevitably fail to make the correct mathematically precise leaps needed to land safely on the rocks floating in the deadly lava. As an added bonus to your demise, you get to respawn back at the beginning. Yay!

8. If you remembered to stealth through the temple path, then made the seemingly impossible jumps to get to the steps of the temple and finally make it inside, don't get too excited. You will turn your first corner, run into a see invis ^^^ mob that will break your invis, tipping off half the effing temple of your arrival and...get to start back at the beginning. Yay!

9. If you remembered to hold out on using your call of home spell, you will use it now.

All in all, I died about 15 times. By the time I left that godforsaken place, I was stark *** naked. I decided to zone back into EF and look for the shrine in there. Thankfully, it was up. The next time I go into Lavastorm, I am bringing an army.

well, yesterday was so-so for me. didn't do a whole lot. did some more quests in SF on my SK. worked on my alchemist, and got all adept IIIs for my SKs current level (found fused loam for a very low price, 19g ecah). tried to get a x2 raid going for a Bold Confrontation, which would have worked except we had a person who wasn't mentored when we zoned in so the zone conned way to high for us to even kill the first mob. well, round 2 is tonight, this time we should get it.

just a note. Anytime you want to go on any raids, if you need to go afk before the start of the raid, please, for the love of whatever god(s) you believe in, PUT YOUR AFK TAG UP!! I thought everyone was with us when we started zoning, and everyone had mentored to 30 (max for the level range we were working with). well, turns out one person wasn't mentored and was afk up to about a min after we zoned in. raid was not happy about that.

Raced home, logged on to my main and got into a guild group to finally do the opening steps for MoA. (yeah, I'm a terrible slacker!) Things went smoothly so we read all the books and took the quest to the beginning of the trials. (is that MoA 4?).

Anyway smoking Sothis never gets old!

On the financial front, things are finally starting to loosen up for me again. After a weeks long drought, T7 rare tailored armor is beginning to sell again. Moved almost 2 complete sets (1 leather 1 cloth) since the weekend. Stuff all goes for about a plat an item so "Happy Days Are Here Again"!!!

Popped on late after getting some w*rk stuff done and was immediately contacted by a new customer for some arrows and adornments. I work very cheap on custom orders; the good will and word of mouth is worth more to me than the money, and I make good profits on the broker. So I did his arrows (thank Tunare for no-subs and 100 on pristine! A quiverful is 14 combines, not 400), a bow adornment, and discovered his harvesting tools were below his level and gave him a new set.

Nice fellow, he's been sending me extra indium. Since I haven't been able to harvest in forever and I work across 5 tiers, that's always welcome.

I entered a bunch of complete collection quests in the db yesterday, including a couple from New Tunaria and Klak'Anon. My favorite reward was this Fae Distillery, which hangs on the wall and has neat animations.
