bringing back the beastlord would work better with Ruins of Kunark though.

A hundred times no. If you want an animal pet, play a shaman class. The class hierarchy structure isn't set up for the addition of new classes really anyway. The beastlord was overdone in EQ1 anyhow. I'd hate to see that whole mess repeat itself in EQ2.

Diet-Evil! lol

And I do agree that we will not see a new class in a very long time, if ever.

Another thing, I don't think they'll wait for RoK for the new race/city. The devs have said they want to introduce more free content.

I looked up "Arsai" on the net a found that the Arsay are some kind of thing from the underworld according to some mythologies. Sound pretty evil to me...

Diet-evil, lol thats great. But yah a new race wouldnt do Kunark justice, but a few new classes would. And I disagree with not having the option of a new pet class, sure you got shamans and mage classes but face it shaman pets suck **** and well mage classes are fotm (flavor of the month), and a new pet class would give more variety on them. The thing is that they can always majorly nerf any old class from EQ1. So they could put the beastlord back into the game and change alot of things about them.
But the classes I would love to see:
A new dps caster like the wizard or warlock.
A new rogue class that is independent alignment like how warlocks, wizards are.
A new good side tank that can be up to par to shadowknight dps.
Another dps caster but evily aligned.

See, here's the problem. The way the class hierarchy is set up, you can't just "add a class". It's not that simple. The class structure is split by alignment and hierarchy and you have to maintain the relationships between the archetypes.

Just take fighters alone for example:

Fighters -|

Brawlers -|
Monk
Bruiser

Crusaders -|
Paladin
Shadowknight

Warriors -|
Guardian
Berserker

So now let say this new pet class you want to add is a fighter. We'll just say a good aligned warrior for argument's sake. We need to maintain balance for both alignment and class structure, so in addition to adding this new class we would need to add (a) an evil counterpart for it under the warrior tree and (b) a new good and evil brawler class and a new good and evil crusader class (or one neutral class to all 3 fighter trees). So in one class tree you need to add a minimum of 3 classes, assuming neutrality of alignment, in order to add just one class to the tree and still maintain balance. You'll also need to have new models for class specific hats and armors made. New NPCs for trainers for each of these classes. New scripts of AQs and class specific quests. And this doesn't even take into account itemization and the economy. What type of armor would this class wear and what weapons would it use? Every item of the appropriate type would have to be changed to make sure the proper classes and the stats were appropriate to be useful to the new class and not hose up the itemization of existing classes. Additionally the new class would be another "consumer group" on the market that you would have to compete for, for purchaseable upgradeable gear. And all of this doesn't even take into account maintaining the balance of the class hierarchy across all of the archtypes with the addition of a news class. To satisfy those conditions you would need to make dual-aligned or neutral additions to every other tree as well (mage, scout and priest) and the itemization changes that go along with that.

The class structure isn't really setup for new classes. I'm not saying it can't be done, but adding even a single class would be a major overhaul. It's not as easy as some might think.

Well from reading the thing Gethani wrote, I'd say the Arsai will be Dark-elvish in nature... Like the Fae were kinda like Wood Elves with big-eyes. Makes Neriak an even greater possibility.

Well, as I mentioned in an earlier post, think of the number of demonic fiends walking around outside Nektropos Castle. Possibly a tie-in? If so, I'd imagine anyone would be KOS there.

Just a random thought.

If you are going to add a new evil race for balance, it seems that in many ways making the Aviaks a playable race would fit the mold. Competition for the same area with dwarves and fae push them to make an alliance with Freeport. They have a established culture and society. They have wings. They aren't Fae look alikes.
