Which EQII to buy?Follow

#1 Apr 10 2007 at 7:05 AM Rating: Decent
Started the trial, wondering why I ever played WoW. Anywho, does the collectors edition include all the expansions? If I buy Echoes of Faydwer, will that include everything?

Thanks fo your replies!

I am not familiar with the collector's edition. Do you mean the classic edition? If so, the classic edition only contains the original EQ2 without any expansions.

In order to get the major expansions and the game, you need to buy the Echoes of Faydwer boxed edition. DO NOT purchase the digital download of EoF as it only contains Echoes of Faydwer and nothing else.

If you want to buy the three adventure packs (minimal content addition, but worth the 7 or 8 bucks IMO) you can do so at the launch pad when you first start EQ2.

the Collector's Tin is just the original game, with an added in-game pet, and some extra out of game goodies (CD soundtrack, bonus DVD with movies and such, collectors coin, and artbook). personal recommendation, go ahead and buy the collector's tin, as well as the EoF retail version. only reason for that recommendation is because the collector's edition if getting rarer and rarer, so get it while you can, if you want all the goodies.

Yeah, the Echoes of Faydwer retail box is all you really need in that it gets you the full game and all of the major expansions (adventure packs can be purchased cheaply, at will later). If you are in to collecting stuff you could pick up the collector's edition, but you'd be buying it strictly for the swag, not for the software.

Echoes of Faydwer comes with all expansions and the base game for $40. If you buy EQ classic for $10 you have to buy DoF and KoS for $30 a piece + EoF for $40. The EoF box will save you $50 =).
Bloodline Chronicles 4.99
Splitpaw Saga 7.99
Fallen Dynasty 7.99
If you get a Station Access account these are included for free but you pay more because it includes all of sony's games.(I think it's at $30 a month now.)

Remember, with your Premium membership at Allakhazam you get a break at Gamestop :) They have the EoF retail box too.

The Collectors tin was neeto, but not worth the price at this point.

They don't publish it anymore, so new ones aren't being shipped to retail. However some stores still have copies that didn't sell so you can find it in some places if you are lucky. The more time that passes the rarer it becomes.

I got real lucky a while back and found 2 collector's tins for $15 each. not bad for a a product that was originally $90 for one. but it is hard as hell to find now a days.

Picked up a collectors tin in November 2006 when I started playing. The baby dragon that comes with it is cool but it is only a house item. I was glad I bought it, then i went and bought EOF when it came out.

You won't get the three Adventure Packs (Bloodlines, Splitpaw, and that other one...), but you get the base game and all three expansions. None of the Adventure Packs are required to enjoy all the benefits of the game. But they're fun :)

What do the three adventure packs add to the game? Like new races and stuff?

Nothing so exciting. There are small bonuses, like some illusions, a handy spell or item or maybe something for your home, but for the most part they are exactly what they sound like: another fun place to adventure with a special theme.

Let's see...

Splitpaw had some house items and is a great place to grind levels from (someone check me) 20 to 50; Bloodlines has some house items and some recipe books for spells only available with the AP and faction; Fallen Dynasty (that's the one I could remember) was beautifully deep on Lore, had some nice crafter items and I hear the raids were fun.

The idea behind an adventure pack is they're a little add-on for extra content between expansions, and are not necessary for the game, like an expansion with a new race might be.
