Port Forwarding-Everquest2Follow

Hey, I want to play EQ2 but something stands in my way.. the ports.

Everytime I turn EQ2 on and press the play button, my screen goes black for about 2 seconds, then it shuts down, and EQ2 is turned off.

I called Customer Service and they said they cannot help me change the ports.
They told me to call the manufacturer of my router. And they sent me an E-mail with the ports.

I called Verizon, because that's my manufacturer and he changed my ports around, and the game still isn't working.

I called back EQ2 customer service and he sent me to www.Portforward.com to change my ports n stuff, but I don't know how to do any of that stuff.

Any solutions?

Advice will be greatly appreciated.

I know this is an old post but I thought I'd throw in on it...
to my knowledge, EQ2 doesn't need any ports open... I have a LinkSys Wireless Router and I didn't have to set up anything, nor did I have to add any ports to my Firewall software...

I believe it does use ports. Here on our campus you can not run games like EQ while connected through our network. We have some gaming computers but they are on their own individual network and do not connect to the main network. I believe it's a port block issue but I could be wrong. I am not a network person. I believe the campus housing also has this blocked.

I couple of years ago our network got hacked into and our e-mail server and some others were down for most of the summer. Now our network is very locked down. I know that none of this helps you though.

yeah, in most educational/corporate environments the IT staff block access to certain ports so they don't have to worry about that sort of thing. but in most home use systems, you don't see that sort of thing, or they tell you right up front about it (ie: blizzard updater for WoW)
