I figure this is a bottleneck in my PC but this is the same PC I used to play eq2 years ago when it first came out. Anyways problem I have is the npc's don't show up sometimes until I stand in front of them for a few seconds. Needless to say this causes a problem when you don't know exactly where the npc is. Mobs do the same thing to me and this causes problems because next thing I know I am being attacked. I would think if anything it would be a connection issue but I have a fairly fast cable (fastest service local cablemodem provider offers).

MY PC is abit out of date, especially the video card.

Amd Athlon64 3000
1 gig 400megahertz DDR memory
geforce 3 ti200 128 mem

Thing is I have bought 2 upgrades for my video card and both of them have caused my PC to randomly lock up. I tried a geforce 7200(maybe 7600 not exactly sure) and a geforce 6600. I got a fairly large power supply so I don't think that is the problem. Also I was able to take both of those video cards and put them in my alt little computer (which has smaller power supply) and they worked great.

Anyways anybody else have this problem or know of a way minus upgrades to fix it?

That particular issue is part your machine and part the EQ2 software. They have actually put fixes for some of these issues (NPCs not rendering in a timely manner) in some of the patch updates. I have a fairly up-to-date gaming rig and still see this issue frequently, especially in high traffic areas (the broker in East Freeport can take up to 10-12 seconds to show his face sometimes). So while upgrades to your system may alleviate some of the problem (especially on the low traffic, mob side of things), it won't completely go away.

There is an option in your game menu (I can't for the life of me think of what it is atm) that allows you to change how far away things are rendered. I don't know if that will help in this particular situation and I don't think your video card will be able to handle it anyway, but it is worth a shot.

That being said, I too have noticed this problem, it really only happens to me in Everfrost.
