TransmutosisFollow

I thought the logical choice in side tradeskills for my tailor was transmting. I had no idea how difficult and expensive this was going to be. I created a toon so I could collect drops for my tailor to "destroy" but that is just not enough to keep her going. I have probably spent over 5 platt on this new adventure. I have barely broken 100 in this skill.

I have noticed that the lower level items that I can munge and afford are rapidly vanishing from the broker. Has anyone else noticed this? I sometimes wonder why I am even bothering. But when I make a tailored items and can add a special bonus for a guildie it makes it all worthwhile.

If anyone has any advice for transmuting beyond 100 as cheaply as possible please share your advice.

Thanks, Zoo

Sure, here's Calthine's Transmuting Hints:
First, over skill 100 you have to make Transmuter Adornments. These are made at the jeweler station. You'll no longer get skillups breaking stuff down with the Transmuting skill.

1. You can get skillups on grey recipes.
2. Mastercrafted Transmutes like Treasured, except Adept 3's, which Transmute like Legenday.
3. And *anyone* cana make the Tier 1 Mastercrafted, and it does not have to be Pristine :)

So, roll a toon on the newb isle, and harvest harvest harvest! And kill anything that moves!

I second the motion. Don't waste materials making transmuter adornments (the only way to skill up past L20) - save/collect all the powders/frags from breaking down gear/spell/items until then. Skill up on grey recipes and use the higher tier materials for making the nice tailor adorns that you want to use on armor.

Just take your time skilling up and don't blow tons of cash on transmuting.

Great adorn page here.

I'm glad you posted this Zoo. I had a few questions as well.

When you munge items, they are only used to create adornments for their respective tiers (i.e munging a level 5 Adept III could possibly yield the infusion needed for an adornment in T1). Is that correct?

So that means at skill level 100, you have to munge T3 items (while not getting skill gain) in order to get the correct components to craft T3 adornments. Is that correct?

The reason I am confused is because people keep mentioning the island to skill their transmuters. I guess they were trying to say that you munge the T1 items up until skill level 100 and then use those items to create T1 adornments. So basically, you gain the necessary skill points by munging to 100 and the rest of the skill gain is from crafting the subsequent T1 gray adornments from your T1 munges. Is that correct?

Whew! I'm spent.

Yes, each Tier has its own munge results and adornments. So T1 munges are only good for T1 adornments. But since you can get skillups on grey recipes (although they come a little slower than even-con recipes), people are finding it cheaper and more expedient to level up on T1 stuff. Trying to max out on T7 stuff is a bit time and cost prohibitive.

Yes, get your skillups to 100 by munging items, then use those items to make transmuter adornments for the best return on your time or money invested in mungable items.

The other thing they're saying is you can skill up on gray T1 transmuter recipes all the way to 350. It will be slower because from my experience you get about 1 in 5 skillups on gray recipes compared to 1 in 2 for even con or better. The thing is it's easy to get mungable T1 treasured items by using a level capped alt on the island. (If you have a high level character I would use it to harvest T1 for rares and craft mungable T1 Mastercrafted/Adept III's because higher harvesting skill nets you more rares.)

In addition, if you want to make money you're better off turning the higher tier transmuted items into marketable crafting class adornments than transmuter adornments that sell for fuel cost if you're lucky. Unless you're a weaponsmith.

So glad I could be of help. I can't wait to give this all a try.

I do have one other question though. In another guide I read that player made items could not be munged. But then I see people mentioning munging Adept III spells. Aren't those only player made? I don't recall ever having one drop or am I just not playing in the high enough level zones yet?

The guide you read was not specific enough. This is from a guide I haven't had time to finish yet (maybe this weekend!)

What can be transmuted?

* treasured gear
* adept 1 and better spells
* legendary gear
* fabled gear
* master crafted gear

What cannot be transmuted?

* no-value items
* items without an equipable level
* handcrafted items
* furniture
* consumables
* some quested treasured gear
* containers
* anything stackable
* apprentice spells
* Heritage Quest items

edit: doh, forgot to answer the question directly. Yes, Adept III's are player-made, but all spells Adept I and higher can be Transmuted.

You're not too bad either Cal. I especially enjoy your posts on the official boards regarding people's complaints about tradeskilling. I enjoy them, I guess, because I agree.

While I have your attention...which game package for EQII is the most complete? My eldest son is coming over completely and wants to start a new account. I am just not certain which packaging to recommend that he purchase. Is the Fadwyer a complete package?

Well, you're nice. :) The people who call Achievements "AA" think I'm "special".

I'll be around on the LoTRO forums, at least. As EQ2 progresses I'm going to fall behind so I don't want to stick my foot in my mouth giving advice, but I'm going to keep an eye on things to see how the game evolves. Of course my opinion will be freely and impulsively given, whether you like it or I regret it later or not!

TBH my subscription hasn't actually run out yet and I already miss it now and then... :P

Yes - the retail version, not the digital download.

EverQuest II: Echoes of Faydwer retail box has the base game and all three Expansions (no Adventure packs, however). It's about $40. Don't forget, you get a discount at GameStop if you're a Premium Member of 'Zam!
