Most Variable Class(es)Follow

#1 Mar 19 2007 at 10:03 AM Rating: Decent
Greetings,

I'm looking for suggestions on what the most variable class is when it comes to combat and skills. I like alot of classes but find they can feel repetitive when getting into the teens. So, I come to the boards here for suggestions on what class offers the most Variety. I solo alot so that is priority as well. Thanks for suggestions!

My main right now is a Fury, he just hit level 20 but I get far more heals than Nukes, still only have two nukes.

I have a 13 Wizard which is fun but it's very much just blast blast blast.

I have heard from some sources that Rangers and Swashbuckers are varied and that it's hard to get bored, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for any suggestions and discussions :-)

My Swashie right now is level 15, so I cannot attest to the higher levels but he is quite versatile at the moment. There are a few different ways to approach a mob. You can go into sneak mode and use your stealth skills to backstab them for a ton of damage. The backstab also stuns the target for a few seconds so you can get off your non-stealthed backstab arts. You can also start with a ranged attack, let them come up to you, stun them and then run around back for a non-stealthed backstab. Or you can go toe-to-toe with the mob in a full on beat fest. Since you can wear chain, you will be able to sustain a bit of a beating, but I do not recommend this tactic unless it's a fight you know you can win. Swashies also get a group run speed buff, a group stealth art, can use poisons and have a generous helping of debuffs . All in all, I pretty much love my Swashie!

I think you're ultimately find that any class you choose ends up restrictive and here's the problem... there is no "utility" class... all existing classes are derived from one of the arch types so they all end up being either a tank, a DPS or a healer... and that's what they do!

You might find a little more diversity in one of the hybrid classes (like druid or monk) but ultimately, I think it just means that in exchange for doing two things instead of one they don't do either quite as well! sort of "jack of all trades and master of none"!

The other thing to consider is that no class (imho) is really interesting at lvl 20... it isn't till you hit your 40s or even 50s that your class really starts to shine and has started all the available spell lines. And not till that point that you have enough AA points to make your character unique.

For example, my 70 warden is a LOT more fun to play than my 44 fury or the lvl 10 baby warden I started for fun! The 70 just has a broader selection of options available...

Yeah I think all classes will find their limits. It's all about loving the role that you play in a group.
