I played for a bit right after release, but it didnt take long for me to tire of the game.

WoW is getting old fast now, so after some looking around it seems that EQ2 has improved alot since release.

So my questions are.

How long does it take to hit level cap? I am looking for a game that takes a long time to level up.

How large is the world? compared to say EQ or wow. I like having lots of places to go, areas that dont seem like the same thing I just left.

I have been messing around with the play the fea trail, Is the music everywhere as good as the starting fea area? (crickets and birds and whatever along with a nice classical music)

If I come back I would be with 2 other people all the time, will this slow questing or leveling like it does in wow? Also is 3 people enough to complete alot of content on our own(one us likes to heal, one likes to tank and one likes to do alittle of everything)? (btw what is the group size here?)

The sticky FAQ at the top should answer most of your questions.

I would say the world is smaller than EQ (10 expansions!?!?) but a little bigger than WoW. With the addition on EoF you have several options for leveling in each tier. I think the outdoor areas are more varied than in WoW, which seems to be mostly forested land with some color and/or vegetation variance.

I think the music in EoF is way better than the original areas, but YMMV. Ambient sounds are found everywhere.

Grouping in EQ2 lets you kill faster, harder enemies for better experience and loot. When you group for quests, everyone gets the ding when you kill the MoB or get the required quest item. Unlike WoW most quest items don't actually have to be looted and go into your inventory, so everyone isn't forced to get their own set.

EQ2 was designed to be playable in four different configurations. These are solo. small group, full group and raid. The basic "holy trinity" you describe, (tank - healer - DPS), will allow you to tackle most of the content the game has to offer including dungeons. When you do come across a named mob or some other situation that the three of you can not master, it should be easy for you to temporarily enlist additional group members to get the job done.

If you are concerned about leveling too fast, you can stop and smell the roses by turning off your combat XP for as long as you like.

As far as the music goes, all zones feature an orchestral score and the natural sound effects are rich and varied regardless of locale. In addition, the "foley" work (footsteps, weapon sounds and other character made noises) is all top quality!

The world is getting pretty big these days. And although there are some limitations, most of the time you can enter a new tier and choose from among 3 or more places to go.

Hope that addresses your questions...

The only thing that I can add is: It is fantastic that you can turn of the adventure Exp. I have had it off since lvl 15 on my monk. This has allowed me to complete almost all available quests before they turned grey, get my moneys worth out of the lower lvl master books and ledgenary equipment, and just see and experience the sights. I am now lvl 37 with over 40 AA points. I have just now gone into EL, since I am out of quests in Antonica, TS, and Nek Forest area - - over 400 and climing.
