Ok I am sure the answer to my question is some where in this forum but so cannot find it.

I played Eq years ago but have not played in 4 years now my brother wanted to play a on-line game and started play WoW and talked me into playing it.

Now WoW is ok but to easy and every one seems to be out for themselves.

I have had players on more times than I can count after I kill all the mob and be killing the last one in my way to get to the main boss and they run pass me a kill the boss. Now from what I am told it is allowed in WoW and that’s is the way every one does it well sorry I will not play that way.

There is a big lack of courtesy and consideration plus I met more people that became permanent friends on EQ in a week than I have spoken to in WoW in 2 months

It does not seem to be a real social game compared to EQ and grouping really kills your exp so why grouping and no need my 25th lvl druid has no problem take out 30 lvl mobs.

Now I am not out to start a WoW ver EQ2 thread just stating my option and why I want to get my brother into EQ2 there are things I like about Wow but for me EQ was more challenging.

So now that I rambled on here is what I would like to know in EQ I play mostly my Monk, Wiz and Druid

So would like to know how they compare in EQ2 I found that Wiz lost his ports but what about his nukes, now they have monk and bruiser are they the same, does the iskar still make a good monk.

Can monk still great for soloing and work just as will in groups.

Did the druid lose his Sow, Dots or he still a good all around char.

I am trying to convince my brother that we should move to EQ2 but we both read that eq 2 and WoW are basicly the same game.

So right now I am playing WoW and pointing out all the game play it lacks compared to EQ1

First of all, EQ2 and WoW are nowhere near the same game. If there were no other differences, the community would stand as reason enough to choose EQ2.

You will find that regardless of server, players in EQ2 are far more mature and considerate.

Now to your questions...

There are no Iksar in EQ2 so no they do not make good monks here. Monk and Bruiser are flip sides of the same character with monk being Qeynos based (good) and Bruiser being Freeport based (evil).

Monks are still excellent solo characters and are also welcome in small groups, full groups and raids.

Druids are now available as wardens (defensive druids) and Furys (offensive druids) Both still have SoW and both can still DoT and nuke. Both are excellent solo characters and are also welcome in small groups, full groups and raids.

Wizards (and druids) can now port again (since the release of EoF) and yes, wizzies are still the kings of nukeage!

If you would like to see all of this for yourself, check out the free trial version of EQ2 downloadable at the SOE site.

Enjoy!

I think what he/she means is that there are no good iskar and monks are a good class.
You could always make a iskar bruiser and later betray over to qeynos and turn your iskar into a monk.

The fury is master of DoTs in the druid class, wardens get a couple of dots but the fury has the higher damage ones while wardens get nukes in place of them.

I played a high elf wizard in EQ1. So when I switched to EQ2 i naturally wanted the semi same role. stand to the side and throw spells into the battle. Instead of picking wizard I decided to go with the Warlock.

Warlocks are masters of group destruction, they have some single target nukes but alot of their spells are for taking out encounters or mobs surrounding you.

so in short if you want to play a nuking class

Warlocks are better for AEs/encounter nukes

Wizards are better for single target nukes

(OBD: Iksar are the lizard people ;)

Iksar in EQ1 had a tail whip which gave hen an extra hand to hand melee attack, which made them a good choice as a monk. There is no such tail attack in EQ2, as far as I know, so iksar don't get an advantage there.

Any race can do well as any class in EQ2, there are neither preferred nor 'gimp' combinations at character creation and pretty much throughout the game. Any "bad" choices you make on Acheivements, racial abilities or other items will have only a marginal effect on you. Your capabilities are much more dependent on level, skills, gear and spell upgrades.

My bad! Imagine that though... a mere 500 years and their tails are completely gone... You go, Darwin!
