Master II Fireball Damage AmountFollow

#1 Feb 19 2007 at 12:33 PM Rating: Decent
I could really use some advise here I have a Master II Fireball Spell & I am a level 40 Wizard with 165 Intelligence. Why is my Fireball bottoming out at, sometimes 600 when at full potential it has 1050, how do I maximise its full power on a more consistent basis?

Sincerely,

Kari

It's always going to hit all over its given range...even the low end. Use your heat/cold resistance debuff Wizards have, and you will likly see the numbers near the higher end or even higher than what the spell reads. Though I also notice you have said 'fireball' spell. Ball of Fire is the lvl 23 nuke, that you do have a chance to get Master II'd. At lvl 36 you should have gotten ball of flames. Normally I would think you just mixed the names up, but you said your using the Master II. There is no master II of Ball of Flames...are you possibly using a dated spell?

I probably am using an outdated spell, I am using Ball of Fire and since it was a master II I thought it would do more damage as when I examine it the toll goes up to 1050 and the Ball of Flames goes up to 870 ish. My disruption is as high as it can go. All of my clothes have bonuses for intelligence. Should I buy clothes with a bonus of disruption? Where are my Debuff spells? Should I use another combination of spellage?
Sincerely,
Kari

initially, Ball of Flames appren 1 is not going to out-dmg Ball of Fire Master II...I think a dated spell would have more trouble hitting the higher mob. Don't all spells say "resistability reduces to mobs higher than level XX"? (not sure, but I think so) It may do more damage but, it will have more trouble successing still. And im pretty sure the adept 1 of ball of flames will out do master 2 ball of fire. Maybe even the appren 4. Just upgrade your spell to the highest you can manage for now :p

Disruption...I never noticed a difference when i would change gear around and fluxuate that number. But + any stat really can never harm, I wouldn't say its critical though in your solo game. INT will increase the dmg slightly of your spells, and give you more mana. INT is alright, but as a wizard (imo) you should work on the WIS. Acheivement line, which ultimatly will let you increase the base damage of all spells by 8%. That is the best general damage boost.

Your debuff spell should be Icy Coils - you said your 40 though and if you have level'd to 41 you actually get an upgrade to that spell which is Piercing Icicles. Just lowers heat/cold mit (just about all our spells). This will help out the damage your heat/cold spells do to the enemy.

Thank you so much for your advise Dakkotaa. I did everything that you said and I am having a much higher success rate with my Ball of Flames. I am now going to take everything that you told me and apply it to my ice comet when I get it. Again thank you so much.
