Can I change my name or server?Follow

I haven't played EQ2 in months and I was thinking about coming back. The reason I quit in the first place was because of certain "friends" and guildmates were too much for me to deal with all the time.

It seemed like I couldn't play to have fun anymore, I was always having to help or spend my time with someone for the entire time I played. There were also some people I became friends with that I didn't want to hurt by my revelation, so I just retired under the guise of a cost and time issue...more so than a "I don't want to spend every waking moment with you" issue. Yes, I have a hard time telling people "no" and yes I have a hard time being an a$$ to people, but that is beside the point.

I don't want to start over with a new toon, I have one in the 40s that is also close to a 40 artisan. I would like to use this character and kind of "start over" so to speak.

What I was wondering was can I change my name or switch servers and will it hide me from old friends and guildmates? If so, how do I go about it, what are the costs and what are some of the better servers to switch to? I was on the Lucan D'lere server before, I wouldn't mind going back there if I could change my name.

Any help would be appreciated, I am torn between my desire to play and all the issues surrounding the only character I desire to play with.
