Coming back to EQ2Follow

Hello all!

With the release of vanguard: SOH I have been growing more and more hungry for an MMO that is a bit more "mature" than WoW. Don't get me wrong, I like WoW, and with the latest expansion there is actually a fair amount of new stuff to do in the game, but there is just something about the game that doesnt quite scratch the itch that all my time in EQ1 and UO left for me. Vanguard sounds really amazing, but I am hesitant to drop $50 on a game that probably wont run that well on my set up.

I bought EQ2 waaay back when it was brand new and thanks to school and work pressures, stopped playing after a while. However, now I have more free time and I just really like the epic feel of EQ2. Praising the game on a forum full of players and fans of the game seems silly, so to cut to the chase, I reopened my account last night.

Much to my surprise my old characters are still there. However, I am going to start fresh and new so to work out the kinks and get a feel for the game again.

Usually I play a ranger or a magic class, however, last night I decided to give one of the more physical classes a try and Arcturis, the human paladin was born.

I have not left the queens colony yet, but I am getting close. It feels so good to be back. :)

Anyway, I have read that many of you on these forums play on the Najena server and if you are recruiting, I would love to join a guild full of people to meet and play with. Plus I wouldnt mind getting a few tips on how to make my way through the world. :)

Lastly, I am seriously considering purchasing the splitpaw saga when I get near level 20. I hear that it has soloable instanced content that will scale in difficulty with me as I level? Is that true? Thats so cool. :)

I also hear that the bloodlines pack is "useless" by most peoples consideration. Why is this?

Thanks all and happy adventuring!

Yes, many of us here play on Najena although there is no "official" Allah's guild.

If you are interested in joining a large, mature adult guild I would recommend Shadow Haven. We have over 200 unique accounts (in the EQ2 chapter) and are part of a net-wide gaming clan with over 700 members playing in half a dozen games. (including Vanguard)

Although we raid weekly, we are at heart a family guild and stress values like honor and sacrifice over the acquisition of L33t Lewtz! In addition, we are a teamspeak guild with a dedicated T/S server available free for the use of our members.

We do have a minimum level requirement but exceptions can be made on a case by case basis. If you're interested, look us up when you get a chance.

You can find us in-game or check out our website at:

Welcome back to EverQuest II! Quite a bit has changed in the world of Norrath as I'm sure you will find out. I would have to agree that the bloodlines pack is pretty worthless. I only went there once (the day it launched) and never had ANY desire to return. Everything else that the EverQuest II team has put out however, is fantastic! :)

If you're a Qeynos character I would recommend heading on over to Faydwer early on in the game. There are lots of places for good aligned characters to level 10-70. The trick is getting there before you're level 25. :)

Oldbluedragon said it well (sorry Kindle, he beat me to it!), a lot are playing on Najena! Ofcourse, you could head to Shadowhaven, they're a nice bunch of players for sure, but don't forget to check out Foundation too! Just click in my signature and you'll find yourself on our guild website Smiley: smile

It's a friendly family-type guild which isn't focused on raiding (although there have been guild groups to deal with tougher fights) but rather providing a fun environment for everyone to play in.

As for EQII, it's almost impossible to list all the changes the game made during the time it's been out; luckily pretty much all the changes are improvements!

The expansion packs are pretty much a necessity I'ld say, although the first two aren't really necessary for the first 40 levels or so, they do add a couple of things that help playing even as soon as lvl 10. The third expansion pack (the most recent one: Echoes of Faydwer) is one you should consider getting imo, it not only comes with all the expansion packs already released and the original game (which ofcourse you don't need, but the two other expansion packs are handy to have. Only retail version though!) but it adds a whole load of new zones, quests, items, ... which improve the game a lot.

Splitpaw Saga is still good to have, but not necessary. When it was released, it added a lot of solo content to the game, which was very much needed at that time (imo only ofcourse) but with the release of the last expansion especially, that's not really needed as much. The instance will scale to your lvl up to lvl 50, after that it remains at 50. (or is it 40? could be mistaken actually) I've heard a lot of good told about the zones, but never completed it myself. (although I'm still planning on doing so)

I've gotten Bloodlines (all adventure packs were/are free with station pass, so I did get them for free), but never played it. Sure, I've done the first part, but I still need to get the rest done. Splitpaw is better, there's more to do and it is more interesting as well.

The third adventure pack is only needed starting lvl 50 or so, no need to get that earlier.

But the final expansion pack is much better than all three adventure packs combined, it should keep you occupied for a very long time indeed!

And ofcourse, welcome back to the game!
