so ive been playing the 'play the fae' trial for a while and now i ordered the real version of the game (echoes of faydwer). i need to install the game but i dont want to redownload all of the patches and updates. how can i just move them from their current place to the new folder when i install the bought version?

Hey, it sounds like we are both in the "we don't want to wait for patches" mind set right now. You can copy all your files from the trial folder and paste them in your EQ2 folder for the now bought game version, if your CPU asks you if you "file already exists, do you want to replace" just hit yes to all. This is what I'm going to have to do. The only problem I could imagine happening is that the trial version has certain files telling the game it's a trial and you'll have issues when you go to play the game. I'm just assuming this though, if I'm wrong somebody let me know, but that's how you pretty much patch your game with the already downloaded patches from the trial. Hope this helps.

cool. i also waited for like 2 hours to speak to a SOE tech person through their chat thing...i cant believe waiting two hours was quicker than the updates. he said to just install the game in the same directory as the trial. seeing as he was very weird and rude im first going to copy the folder, then install over it, just incase i need to do the drag and drop thing you mentioned. lets both report back here after we have tried our methods.
