Hopefully I won't get flamed for this...Follow

I'm sure everyone here loves this question, but myself and 2 friends are looking for a semi-casual/quasi-harcore MMORPG and have narrowed it between EQ2 and WoW. We each have average computers that will not be able to run EQ2 on high-end. For any of you that play/know about both, can you give me some positive/negative feedback for each?
Thanks.

This sticky has a sort of comparison with other MMO's, including WoW.

I've played WoW myself (gotten one char to 60, started several alts) but I will not go back to that game myself.

Both games are good for a casual player, EQ II definitely is good for a more hardcore player. Never been involved in raiding or much of the end-content of either game though, so I can't offer much advice on that.

Yeah, you really can't go wrong with either. It depends on what you are looking for.

WoW is a much more casual players' game with fast advancement, flashy combat and a very "arcade-like" feel to it. It's very fun. If there is any negative thing to say about it, it's that we frequently hear from ex-WoW players that state that while it's very fun while it lasts, you burn out on it quickly.

EQ2 on the other hand is a bit for the more dedicated player. More quests, more story and lore. Combat is paced differently and is more strategic. There is content for the solo'ist, grouper and raider from the newbie levels right on up to the end-game. If you take the time to explore and see and do everything you can find as opposed to just grinding through levels, you'll be amazed at the staggering amount of diversions there are to be had. If I had any gripes about EQ2 it would have to be with the market value of certain tradeskill professions and the economical viability of the same.

But like I said, you can't go wrong with either of them. They are both fun in their own rights and there are good times to be had in each.
