Looking for How to play a Troubador 101Follow

#1 Jan 23 2007 at 9:51 AM Rating: Decent
Hello all! I am a re-newb. I jumped on EQ2 on the initial launch day. I played for about a month and then my pc fried. I just got a pc again that was capable of playing the game so I jumped back in and I am completely lost. I am hoping that someone here can give me some good info on playing the Troubador class in EQ2. I am a level 15. So far I have just been playing it safe in the Antonica area but my exp bar is barely moving. So if you don't mind please give me a couple of answers to the questions below.

What gear to look for?
What spells should I use?
Where should I look to hunt?
Should I start a new character?

Coming from a few 27+ characters I can only offer limited advice, but in terms of buying things, Adept/master spell books seem to add a lot more to your dps than any weapon adds.

Troubador is a good class, and a nice one to have in your group. My advice is to try and get to the 17+ level range then go to Stormhold. I never had the chance to go there myself but everyone seems to like it there. After you get too high for SH, head to Fallen Gate. That will take you to about 27ish. There is usually a group going in those two zones. After that around level 28-30 either try the Enchanted Lands or Ruins of Varsoon. Enchanted Lands can be reached from the Nektulos Docks and the Ruins of Varsoon are off of Thundering Steppes.

Do quests for gear, or have a nice friend make you some :) but you won't be at your level for long so don't go all out trying to get the best gear. For the spells that you tend to use more, try to find the Adept of that spell either off the broker and/or hunting. Again, you won't be 15 for long so don't worry too much about improving those.

My advice for whether or not to start over is to try out a lot of classes. See what you enjoy playing and what fits you best. I think everyone in the game have a Necromancer and for good reason =). For me, I'm more of a mage class while others prefer tanking. So give everything a try and find your niche.
