The market board in my inn room isn't letting me buy objects from sellers. I have done it before...but I have no idea why it isn't letting me now. Is it only open during the day or something?
If there isn't an obvious explanation I don't know about...What are some things that might be going wrong?
I can still list items for sale..bu tI can't buy anything...

You need to go to a broker (any tradeskill instance or scattered around your city). You can't actually buy anything from your market board in your apartment. The interface is the same so I can see how it can be confusing.

You used to be able to do it that way, if memory serves me correctly. But lots of changes were done regarding the selling/buying in the game.
The current system is pretty good, either buy through the broker or directly from the appartment.

I ran into this same problem not too long ago. For everyone else with the same question, you can BROWSE the buy list, you just can't purchase the items from your house. You can however, place items for sale and retrieve money from the board located in your house.. Just to clear things up a little more =)
