Good morning, AllaK's - 1/19/07Follow

Good morning, happy campers.

Loged in my baby defiler and did two more Craftsmen levels on my way to being the chef for my other toons. Good times. Early crafting is fun because it is deceptively quick.

Logged into Vanguard and tested combat some more. It's...odd. There's a very slow paced, almost clunky feeling to it. The interesting side-effect of this is that it all feels very laid back. Like, instead of EQ2 where it's very quick and I'm all like "YAAAAARRRRR!!! DIE! *CHOP*HACK*SLICE* RAAAARRRRR!!" in Vanguard it's more like, "*stretch* Taste my sword *yawn* evil guy...I guess". There's a very "sittin' back on yer porch" feel to combat in Vanguard. While I don't find it as engaging as EQ2 combat, I can really see the appeal for folks that are looking for a system that feels more like a past-time than a job.

How was your evening?

well, finished Axe from the Past as well as CoD access on my monk. did a courts run and managed to ding my guild 16 (good times there). then was gonna log my provie and do some cooking for my toons (most of whom are out of food and drink, or getting very low). well, needed some raws that I forgot to transfer over from my brigand. so I logged him, and I see someone putting a Sanctum of Fear pick-up group. joined that, dinged 50 (HURRAY!!), and am about 30% towards 51. not a bad night over all.

Got new drivers and logged into playable VG for the first time and I'm finally hooked. See my update post from yesterdays good morning.

Combat is slower than in EQ2 but I think that might make for better grouping because it will allow more strategy in individual fights. In EQ2 I often feel like the fight is over before I did anything. Everyone spams out their usual fight sequence of clicks and everything almost always goes well and the fight is over in seconds. On the rare occasion things don't go well it too often results in group wipe because it happens too fast for anyone react. (no, I'm not a bad healer :P) I miss the feel of combat in EQ1 where things could change in mid-fight and you had to watch how things were going and react. VG isn't as slow as EQ1, it's somewhere in-between.

I logged in and proceeded to pass off the Fabled leather boots I ffa won to a guild Bruiser...was a happy camper. Headed up to loping and duoed with a necro bud to complete a few quests...dinged another AA. Grabbed a few more, and pounded through CoV, fun run but I was tired out and called it a night right after.

Two boxed a few more quests with my 57 Zerker and 59 Dirge and dinged a few more AA's Odd combo I know, but these are the toons that I need the AA's on. Tracked down a few old friends that I hadn't seen logged in a year. Apparently when SOE revamped the EQ2 Players site, the option to view the alts on your account was reset or something. So anyone that had that option blocked before, you should check it again. For the hell of it I did a character name search and then checked for any active alts, much to my surprise they were still playing on some other characters. Apparently, they were tired of running the guild and wanted a change of pace so they started some alts from scratch. Shot the breeze with them for awhile and then logged. Still not sure if they were freaked out that I had tracked them down on their new characters. Hey...I get bored at work.

Haven't done much, done some more assassination quests for my Freeport faction. Finally hit amiable, so I got to do the infamous dog training quest. That was just annoying, quite pointless really. Just spam some buttons untill I'm told that I'm done.

Only one thing to do before I get to be a full citizen of Freeport, one more assassination job.

It's a pity really, the assassination quests got me 20% AXp every time. But I only got to do 8 of them before I hit amiable as I tried out several other quests first that got me quite a bit of faction but little AXp.

Still, so far I've gotten 4 Apoints out of it. Not half bad, not done yet as well.

I worked on my Coercer a bit. grouped her for a few levels and called it a night at 22. Need to seriously upgrade some gear, so i think im going to farm some named for some stuff.

Made an alt guild Type thing with one of my guys. Farmed a ton of stuff and have a little over 6plat in the guild bank with only 2 members over level 20. Still guild level 1. Started doing wirts.

Not sure what im goignt o do with Phalong. Ive been going on random raids with Vildainn and his guild. Getting some upgrades that make tanking in instance groups easier. But Im pretty sure they wont like how im AA spec'ed.

Tank Spec'ed SK's > all. lol. not the most common but I like it.

Worked on a couple more quests as well. Got 4 AA's on my Coercer and 2 more AAs on my guardian. Not to mention a couple more AA's on my Sk.

Hey, Stug or Chimp, you guys use the final STA line ability? Is it worth putting 8 AA's into?
