I used to hunt in the same area for the same mob. I made sure to take as many mobs as I could to make it not worth their while to stay there.

When my bags would fill and I would go make a quick stop at the merchant, they would return to farm. Then I'd make it not worth their while again.

If someone is farming solo, they are not breaking any rules.

If they are farming using bots in their group, then they are. You can tell a bot group by the behavior and structure of the group, and the fact that they are always on the quested carpet mount 24/7 (free, easy to get at 70… perfect for a bot group).

Firs thing that’ll tip you off is the behavior. The entire group is n auto follow on one tank. The tank will go into an area, gather every mob, and then begin attacking. When he starts to attack, the other group members switch on and AOE the mobs to death. Since, repeat.

The other characters are usually a healer of some type (typically Fury) and two to three Wizards. The tank is played by a person, while the others are operated using programs that read various signals from the game and from the log as it generates (similar to a DPS parser) to determine what actions to take and when.

Now, once you are sure you’re looking at a bot group, here’s what you do to get rid of them…

Send a /tell to the tank character, since he or she is actually controlled by a person.

Say: “Take your bot group somewhere else or I’m reporting you. I’m questing here.”

I have yet to find a bot group that doesn’t respond well to this. It’s gotten to the point that regular botters on my server see me coming and leave. They know that I’m not going to report them *if* they get the heck out of my area and let me do my writs.

That was the group that was working Sandscrawlers. Guardian, Templar, Wizard. They were auto-follow on the Guardian that would run around gaining agro until they had a nice circle of agro-love. Then they would all stand still as the Wizard nuked them into vapor.

I actually got some sort of a conversation going with one of them once. He said, in broken engrish, that they can make 14pp a day, and they give it to "the boss".

That’s when you /report <their name> and then /petition to alert the GMs to your /report and let them know what’s going on :)

The ban hammer would have been swift and brutal with an admission like that on record.

I think I've run into that group myself too, very annoying to see someone just scoop up all the mobs like that.

It's a good tip for a writ group of our own though, heh, we'ld go through writs really fast that way.
