Everyone can solo, as there is a lot of solo content around. Everyone can also get their **** whipped when they try to take on too much.

In the Scout class there are many types. Assassins will have the highest single melee hit with a blade. Rangers have the highest hit with a bow. Brigands and Swashbucklers get good damage plus buff/debuff. Troubadour/Dirge are more utility with tons of buffs, debuffs, and control songs.

All Scouts get Sneak, (Brigands also get a group sneak), and Escape (emergency evacuation of the party to a safe location), along with some other abilities.

Keep in mind that Scouts can't wear plate armor and can't stand toe-to-toe against a hard mob for very long. They do their best damage from behind.

Are berserkers hard hitters? Because standing behind is a pain, I had a 16 Necro but to me there just plain boring, but not being able to go sraight up in front is kind of a let down =(

Swashbucklers get a group sneak aswell.

From what Ive experianced with my scout you can sneak up from behind a target, and unleash powerfull atacks from behind before your target can turn around and face you.

Beserkers are more made for tanking as I understand them.

monks and bruisers also do really well both soloing and surviving. Both are considered tanks, but are the highest DPS parsing out of the tank classes and have very decent offensive stances. Monks have an invis as well if you're looking to sneak, but you dont have to worry about doing any fighting from behind. As an added bonus, both bruisers and Monks have FD which can last up to twelve hours ;)
