Appauling GM expierience. Image heavyFollow

#1 Jan 09 2007 at 7:50 PM Rating: Decent
Sorry, I didn't screenshot EVERY word she said, but, I did screenshot a whole bunch of stuff that she did. To start off, I am extermely appauled at the GM support now. I in no way trust it, or believe that its being run anywhere but a third world country where people who dont speak english answer our replies...

Ok, so, I start off. I got on this morning, to see that my characters name had been reset due to "Breaking the Terms of Service", which is true. Since I am heading out, theres nothing I can do about the issue at the time. I send a petition, and finish the email portion of the support system. So, I send an email back saying what I'd like to have my name changed to. I log in, and I start playing, and telling my friends my new name.

I'm in Neklutos, waiting for the boat, and I get this.

http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/4199/eq2000260copynw8.jpg

She pops out of nowhere on me. I wave at her.

In about 2 minutes, /tells me "Greetings, Torlnarper, "

(copied from log)

Two minutes later,

(1168396210)[Tue Jan 09 18:30:10 2007] \aPC -1 Kilosh:Kilosh\/a tells you,"This is GM Kilosh from Sony Online Entertainment."-----is the next response.

Another minute, (1168396252)[Tue Jan 09 18:30:52 2007] \aPC -1 Kilosh:Kilosh\/a tells you,"Is there any I can assist you with?"

I reply, (1168396263)[Tue Jan 09 18:31:03 2007] You tell Kilosh,"thought you were the GM that was answering my ticket.. guess not"

(1168396314)[Tue Jan 09 18:31:54 2007] \aPC -1 Kilosh:Kilosh\/a tells you,"yes exactly."

Anyway, this whole business goes on and on, and everything she says is TERRIBLY distorted english.

Even most amazing, she contacted me without even KNOWING what my problem was, in terrible english, i might add:

I reply with my desired name.

(1168396607)[Tue Jan 09 18:36:47 2007] \aPC -1 Kilosh:Kilosh\/a tells you,"I will do it for you."

Next,

http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/4990/eq2000263copyzf4.jpg

I think "Neat, all done, all good". But nope, I was wrong. My name didnt change.

Up next,

http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/9544/eq2000264copycv5.jpg

A few minutes later,

http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/4448/eq2000265copymv8.jpg

Soon after saying this:

http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/1991/eq2000266copyjh0.jpg

So I reply, (1168397029)[Tue Jan 09 18:43:49 2007] You tell Kilosh,"i dont understand"

I realize that I dont want to do this anymore, so next time she replies in broken down english,

http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/877/eq2000267uj5.jpg

Lo and behold, I relog, and my name HAS NOT changed.

I am completely amazed and appauled at this situation. I really want an explanation for this. This is not how you treat customers.

Meh, I was stuck in Frostfell. Sent a PM to a CSR. 15 minutes later it was fixed. Guy was great. The two other experiences I have had with them have been phenomenal.

Shame you had a bad time but really it is not the end of the world. Just send a new petition and hope for a different CSR.

In EQ1 I got stuck under the ground in Steamfront by the Mino cave. Worst GM ever. Started laughing at me and called some other gms to laugh as well. I was pretty pissed and got the guy fired (he never got my char out, I had to E-Mail SoE, this was pre ticket, to get a gm over there.). Honestly, I have never had a good experience with a gm. It's kinda like the cops to me, I really don't want to deal with them, but sometimes you have to. I also realize that they aren't all bad, just some jerks.

sounds like a problem I had in DFC a while back. completed the ring even to get Fyst into the arena so we could kill him. he runs in and just stands there. can't do anything. I submit a CSR ticket. 30 min later, still nothing so we all dispurse. now before I go any further, let me say that when I made up the CSR ticket, I mentioned that we had done the ring event and that Fyst had run into the arena. anyway, I get on the next morning and check my email, I have a response from a GM time stamped more than seven, closer to eight, HOURS after I submited the ticket. and the answer..."you needed to kill the smaller mobs first" (I'm guessing referring to the ring event). apparently 1) the GM did not know how to read and 2) could not figure out the fact that we were really wanting to finish this without a lockout.

makes me wonder sometimes about the competence of the GMs they hire, but oh, well. guess we will just have to deal with it for now.

I've had great experiences with GMs, and only have good to say about the service personally....from fast provision of missing quest rewawrds, to resetting bugged HQ mobs, to replacing me in-world from 2 falling through the world experiences, to fast replies to /reports &petitions, etc..etc.. CSRs are like employes of any company...not all are the greatest.

A little struggle to communicate I would be ok with...if the problem got resolved. Since the problem was not resolved, I'd say that warrants a formal complaint to SOE customer service...the phone number is in the guidebook and on the website as well I believe.

Nobody here works for SOE, you should try the main boards. You probably already have, and every other EQ2 board out there, and maybe some other games...

Anyway, we can't help you.

BTW, you had this all planned as an "investgative report blows the lid off SOE ineptitude" kinda thing, didn't you? The fact that you took a screen shot of every interaction tells me you were looking for this sort of experience to record. How do we know you recorded everything and there is no PhotoShop involved?

Personally, I’ve had nothing but great experiences with the GMs and Guides I’ve dealt with. I have run into a few GMs with poor English skills, this is true, but considering the demographic of the player base, I would assume many GMs are bilingual. That doesn’t mean “Speaks English perfectly and shafts the other language users” either…

Consider this next time you’re feeling slighted by someone who speaks poor English. For every one customer service person in this country that doesn’t speak proper English, there are likely many, many more who don’t speak proper Spanish, German, French, etc. The person you dealt with may have learned English as a second language only recently, perhaps *for* the job specifically, and didn’t grasp what needed to be done.

It’s unfortunate, yes, but not speaking English doesn’t make someone inept or stupid. It just makes them part of the vast majority of the world, which is to say, not native English speakers.

Plus, none of this would have happened if you hadn't (knowingly it would seem) picked a name that broke the naming rules :P

Seems to me that the GM's in EQ2 don't have the same power they did in EQ1.

Example:The door in TS to get into the enginners hut was locked so my entire group petitioned and GM said he can't control anything in game and said we should use /feedback.We did.The next update fixed this problem.

So I don't blame the GM's.

Also it was good to see a guide on duty on nOOb isle to help us all out.

Please exuse my grammical cause me live in MICHIGAN!

On the contrary, My post had been deleted many times, and grammatical errors, because I am no good HTML, so by the time I've posted this, I forgot to mentioned thats what I said exactly in the EQ2 forums.

And I wasn't planning on blowing any lids, I just took many screenshots to show my friends. One of them doesn't believe that the GMs are anything but important figures in the SOE building. Wasn't actually expecting a reason from anybody here.

As for Photoshop, Theres no real way, unless you want to take those log numbers i mentioned and do something with them :p Dont know what they mean, but theyre unique numbers. hehe

As for the English as a 2nd Language post, they shouldn't have replied to my ticket at all if they were going to give me such a problem. I know they were just trying to help, but thats just as usefull as me going into RYL or RF online and trying to answer questions. I'm trying to help, but its all greek--err.. korean to me.

The fact that it was deleted off the official forums is nothing noteworthy. Hell they even delete the posts on good GM experiences off the forums. Those Mods in Blue are sticklers for rules.

I see no reason to get worked up over it. You had a bad customer service experience. Welcome to life, it happens and in your case it wasn't even all that bad as it was just goofy. Resubmit your petition for a name change and move on. Nothing to get worked up over.
