Antique, Precious LootFollow

I have a collection of stuff I do not know what to do with cluttering my bank. The items give very little clue as to how they are used. Some say collectible, some say antique, others say precious loot. Is there some antiques dealer we are supposed to show these to? I tried the collection NPC, but nothing happened. I still have half-burned ceremonial candles from the isle of refuge, LOL. I hate to throw them away, because as soon as I do, I will figure out what they are for. I have been scrying in Antonica, so am getting increasingly more. Just like throwing away gnoll parts then...whoops!..I stumble across the gnoll lore book in Keep of the Gnollslayers. Is there any systematic place to start with each item? Does any particular word in the examination mean you try something different i.e. "antique", "collectible", "precious loot" etc.

Any help would be appreciated!!!

So far as I know, all of those items in question are vendor loot. You'll prolly get the best price from a merchant in your "home" city.

Some items, like the gnoll parts, are only good to you if you have a quest requiring them. Good news is that they drop frequently, so if you don't have a quest like Gnoll Lore & Legend, you can safely get rid of them either by selling them to the vendor (for the paltry 7cp) or just destroying them.

Best way to find out if an item is a collectible is to examine it. If the collection window does not pop up, then either it is not a collectible or you already have that particular piece in your collection.

Precious loot items are usually worth more at the merchant and are more rare to find.

Other items may be part of a quest. Bad news is that you may not know it when your out in the field or at the merchant about to sell it. Do a quick item search here at Alla to see if it's in the database and if it's part of a quest.

I remember a certain torque that was a rare drop from a few monsters that was a required piece for a Heritage Quest. Knowing this, people would put that torque on the market for crazy prices. I think I paid 1pp 20gp for mine so I could advance the quest. It was that or spend countless hours camping uncommon mobs for a rare drop.

Then one day many days ago, with a new Warden alt exploring Nek Forest for the first time, that same torque dropped off a pirate on the beach. Go figure...

Be careful with collectibles. There are some that sell for quite a lot of money at the broker. Low lvl ones don't tend to be worth much, but there are occasional exceptions. (cracked barbarian bone for instance sells for over 1pp, not bad for a lvl 25 quest item)

Some mobs will drop pieces that are needed for the lore and legend quest (these are called "treasured" when examined) or language quests(also "treasured" when examined but also "no-trade"). You must always examine items when they drop (apart from the obvious vendor loot like meats and hides ofcourse) as some start a quest if you do so. (language quests start this way for instance) Some of the lore and legend parts are rather rare, I've seen prices up to about 2 pp for a single part of the bixies for instance. Gnoll and orc parts are not even worth putting on a broker, but be a bit more wary when other items are involved.

Occasionally you will get an antique loot, which is basically vendor loot and at times a handy jackpot as they sell for quite a lot. (the highest zone drops sell for about 13 gold or more if I'm not mistaken) (Thisis an example of an item that is only good for selling to a vendor.

If you are in doubt, just check a broker to see if the rest of the players find the item worth a lot or not.

The antique items that come from scrying spots are different. These sell back to the guys that sold you the scrying stones. MOST o fthe time they sell for the price of a single scrying stone (10s) but there are exceptions. When you get one you will usually get a choice of the item or a number of scrying stones. Multiply the stones by 10s and that is what it usually sells for, so I usually just take the stones.

Arcana treasure will sell very well, and it will also give AA exp the first time you find that one.

Looted treasure just sells well but does not give AA exp.
