Hello, i have recently brought Everquest II, i downloaded the patch which was fine. Everything seemed well, then when i clicked play, it started up, came onto a black screen then minimised itself to a smaller box in the screen and closed.

However, i restarted my PC, and it worked fine after that i leveled a wood elf beserker to level 9. I minimised it to put some music on and same thing happened, now, when i try to Play EQII again the same thing happens.

As i have just brought this game and paid for a month of gameplay i cannot live with restarting my PC everytime i wanted to close EQ2 or minimise it for a while.

Any Answers would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

did you try to restart the game itself before you restarted your computer? Every once in a blue moon this happened to me and all it took was for me to restart the game itself. I dont know why it happens as I am not computer savvy but someone else more so might have the answer =)

Well, not really that tech-savvy but have you made sure you have all your drivers updated?

Yep, i have restarted the game numerous times i attempt to get it working again, now i cannot get into the game at all, all i get is a black screen where i can see the everquest II mouse then it minimises itself into a smaller box in the screen and completey closes.

I'm not sure it will be my drivers as i managed to play it yesterday. I have also recently updated them when i bought the game.

you can also go to the eq2 homepage [link=null]http://everquest2.station.sony.com/[/link]
and from there you can get to tech support or to the knowledge search and see if that helps.

<verify D:\live\eq2\framework\core\devices\src\DirectX9RenderDevice.ccp (4319) DirectX Error. (D3ERR_INVALIDCALL). -Now im getting this messege whenever i try to minimise the game - I have downloaded the latest DitectX and updated my drivers. Yet i am still unsure of the root of this problem.

Please post your system specs, that will help us understand and troubleshoot your problem.

Some things that help:
- Power supply strong enough to support.
- Graphics card of at least 128MB.
- Updated video drivers.
- Enough extra space on hard drive (mine runs like dirt if my hard drive gets full).
- At least 1MB of RAM, 2MB is preferred.

Where would i find this in formation on my PC like its power unit or w/e etc.. i know i have 1.75mb of RAM and have played EQ2 trial before with no problem.
I can get on after about 3 tries of logging into EQ2, other wise it closes and makes and error sound - and displays that messege when i try and minimise it ^^.

As always make sure your diretx is up todate from the most reliable source. 6 times out of 10 with EQii that is the problem. Might not be in your case but it is pretty easy to check it out and then rule it out as a problem.

If problem continues it would be best to place up your system specs and a thread in the SOE EQ2 tech support forum. Nothing like going straight to the source for tech support.
