Already knew Unrest would be coming out in a LU.

They have been promising the LFG upgrade "in a couple patches" for the last 10 patches.

It was interesting to hear that they are looking at going to imitate Blizzard in providing free content via patches (goodbye adventure packs).

Other than that it was a bunch of old hash with nothing too exciting.

The news about Unrest makes me happy. I love large scripted events like Nektropos (which I'm sure he meant).

Telling that bruiser to go ask Mayong for his fable gi was killer. ;)

Frostfell: Impressive holiday patch and it blew WoW's 2005 abominable snow-grinch content out of the water.

Fae Betrayal: This ends the ongoing in-game debate about SOE not wanting Fae to be evil.

City leaders participating in a live event: Years ago the Queen of Thex spawned in Neriak 3rd gate and delivered a speech relating to Lanys T`Vyl - there was supposed to be a war between Thex and The Hand but SOE/EQ1 never continued the plot line and it later died a quiet death. This is the sort of GM event that people enjoy, we want to see the game world evolve and change due to player participation. The game world would be so much more rich and textured with small events that mold differing factions, not just the world rumbling for a few weeks and then launching a new expansion pack. I've seen people talk about each EQ2 server having to build the Griffon stations, SOE should continue this sort of player interaction.

Lyndro said Faydwer is remote so travel there should be long: Read annoying timesink.

Lyndro: Unrest is going to be a high end group zone:

/RANT

Why is SOE locking old low/mid level EQ1 zones into EQ2 high level raid encounters? The reason players loved and hated EQ1 Castle Mistmoore wasn't because it was a bloody L70+++ playground. People loved that zone because it was scary at L20-50 due to NASTY 30 mob trains, weird little rooms with bugged mobs and a cool vampire theme. SOE/EQ1 ruined Mistmoore by turning it into a LDoN/High level zone. Its like a first kiss or the first car you bought - SOE will never be able to reproduce the feeling people got when they zoned to MM the first time, quit trying to relive the past. Same rant applies to Unrest.

Oh, hey! It's the Bell versus Boat debate again! Now it's the best day ever!

What, would you prefer maybe a window that just popped up with a list of zones and you could just select it there and it would zone you in? That way you wouldn't have to see anything between your apartment and your target!

Good times. Punchin' out of this one. ;)

Exactly what I though, if they have no plans for an adventure pack now, they never will. They want to put their effort into another big expansion.

But they have added free content quite a bit, going back to all the free solo/small group instances they added shortly after launch up to Nek Castle part 3 and a couple new high end raid zones. None of them were on the scale of an adventure pack, to be fair, but I don't know that Blizzard's were either (I don't count battlegrounds for Blizzard because, IMHO, they should have been in place at launch).

Boat and spire waits and such are a good time to meet other players who are headed to the same place you are and maybe group up with them. This game needs some forced socialization more than anything I can think of other than love for Weaponsmiths :P

Grimwell: Next question is from Raelysa: Any chance the transmusting requirements for the Mistmoore Shield HQ are going to be changed? The insane amounts people are charging for the transmuted items makes it an extremely expensive quest to finish, especially for those who can't use the item.
Lyndro: We couldn't predict the cost of those transmutated items when the quest was planned, we'll evaluate the difficulty and the associated cost and see if we are happy with it.

It looks like they were caught off guard by the huge impact transmuting has had on the economy, as if they thought people would only level it as they raised a new character, instead of high levels wanting to be a 350 transmuter RIGHT NOW. It could use some major adjustments. The best thing they could to would be to give skill-ups for transmuting all the way up to 350, and drop the crafting requirement. (Particularly since you don't have to be a crafter to be a transmuter any more. :( ) That way transmuters would put a lot more shards and powders on the broker.

Blizzard was pretty on the ball with free content update with patches. Think a new Raid instances or game changing feature every 2-3 months. While I know that this is tempered by the fact that they took 2 years and 2 months to release their first expansion it still a hell of a lot of free content.

I won't view Unrest as free content since it was promised in the expansion but they couldn't deliver it on time so they held off. If you promise it at release and then try to pawn it off as free content that aint right (much like WoW with BG's).

Hopefully they deliver new content (outside of the usual quest line additions or revamped old content).
