Good Morning, AllaK - 1/5/2007Follow

Good morning, happy campers.

My son had basketball practice last night so there isn't a ton to tell. I logged in to check my broker sales. Made about a plat and a half from unloading a bunch of random low tier rares I had laying around in the bank for no real good reason. Did a few tinkering combines to raise it a couple points (102/350). Switched to my coercer and transmuted a few items collected by lowbie farming toons to get that skill up to a big time 42. o_0 Took the kid to his practice. Got home and played Red Steel until I decided it was time to hit the sack.

How was your evening?

Logged on for just enough time to finish the second of my god quests and really enjoyed it.

Oh quick question.

What exactly are transmuting and tinkering?

I found both trainers last night and that got me wondering about them.

Well, I'm still in the early stages of both skills. My coercer is my transmuter and my main is my tinkerer. Right now for transmuting all I am down is converting low level adept spells and other treasured gear into shards for skill-ups. I haven't actually made anything with the skill yet. As for tinkering, I made some spring-loaded boots for me and some of my pals. The no damage dumbfire pets for fun. See invis goggles. Most of the lower level tinkering stuff are just funny entertaining items, not really meant for actual serious use. When I get more skilled that will change.

New secondary tradeskills...transmuting is for making adornments to augment items/gear. Tinkering is generally for making items that they themselves (or other tinkers) can use...lot of neat little abilities.

I logged on, grabbed a guild group. and procceeded to help them start their Deathtoll access. After a bit, jumped into another guild group and ran through Obelisk. Spent the rest of the night promoting guildmates to ridiculous sounding ranks...too much fun :)

You know you can make adornments from those shards and powders which will also give you skill-ups. You get the recipes from the people who taught you transmuting, on the BB docks it's one of the Fae.

In fact once you reach 100 skill the only way to raise it is by making the adornments, no more skill-ups from munging items.

<editorial>Which is stupid, IMHO, since the devs decided to open to anyone it should just be a harvesting skill. It's not a "secondary tradeskill" when you don't have to level any tradeskill to do it.</editorial>

Got invited to a pick-up raid in Labs with my 70 Swashy. Thought I could avoid the wife aggro by playing on my new laptop next to her on the couch. Thank the EQ2 gods that I have a wireless network because because I ended up getting her this and that and moving around the house, carrying my laptop and trying to not die. I didnt have my parser going, but I would hate to see my dps while I am trying to make dinner, balance my laptop so I dont drop it on the floor and get my positional attacks in on the epic mobs. At one point I muttered "gd heat AE" and when my wife asked me what I said...I just explained that something was the matter with the stove. I'm so sly!
