I currently have an nVidia geForce 6600 GT 256 MB video Card and I have some extra cash that I'm thinking about putting into an upgrade. Would it be possible to get 2 cards that currently run about $150.00 each to set up in PCI Express SLI mode? If I do so will I see a very good performance increase? I would have to see something better than 10 - 20% to consider it worthwhile.

I'm already planning to get a new power supply if I do this upgrade. With my current one I'm getting wierd messages occasionally about my video card not getting enough power and scaling back features. Though I don't notice anything different...

I already have 2 GB of RAM.

I wouldnt invest on a dual vid card setup if your not going with top cards, it might also requires you buy a new power supply.

From what i see, with 150$ budget, id wait a bit, put a bit more and go into the gf 7900 serie, 512mb if possible.

Turns around 320 canadian, there are probably some version that are cheaper so around 250 us at most.

Youll get much more into that than 2 75$ video card

Personally, I would just spend the 200 bucks and get a 7950. They are twice as powerful as your current card and you don't have to shell out the $$$ for a brand new one :)

Hmm no it would only buy 1.
From what i read around, put 300 dollar on one card or 150x2 for 2 card, the single card will always best the dueal card setup.

So however much you can invest, id buy the best card possible for the money you can invest and

you can get the gf7950GT 512mb for around 250$
you can get the gf7950gx2 1024mb for around 450$

Considering your budget id go for the 7950, just make sure you have a motherboard that can run it.

The 7950GX2 is a fast card and it runs a bit slower than 2x7900GTX in sli or crossfire mode, but that setup would cost alot more.

When you look on different cards on the net, try to go check their benchmark on different games, you can often just type the card name + review or benchmark and youll get a very good idea of the pros and cons of each card you can get.
I dont understand much, but once every 3 year, i read a day a build a good pc. I run on a PC i builded in septembre 2004, i can still run everquest2 at balanced setting pretty well. Maybe in a couple year if i read a bit more ill learn more and be able to build even better system, the best trick is to start somewhere.
Good way not to waste money cause lets face it, when you ask the seller, hell just sell you what hes been stucked with forever :)
