question...again...Follow

I just started playing the game 2 days ago. Why in god's name am I getting tells to go to a website and BUY gold? I didn't think this crap would be so blatant in this game. I've played FFXI for the last 2.5 yrs and it was no where close to this ridiculous. Is there no way to contact a GM (sorry if it's something different for EQ2)?

I understand what you are saying, I also recently started playing but havn't got a tell from a gold seller yet. Its the same in WoW, you will get random tells from people who are promoting their gold selling / powerleveling website, how much they spam I have no idea, sadly this is the way some people make their money.

Yeah, /report the person sending you the tell. It's also good to follow-up with a "petition" to support. Sony's support site had a form for contacting the GMs. They usually respond withing 20-30 min and are pretty swift about nuking accounts.

Not to worry, people in ff11 also receives tells now, the company finds new way to make publicity, they dont use different tactic depending on the game they are on.

sadly, it happens in every game nowadays. Awhile ago, Sony helped decrease the spam by getting rid of the ability to receive tells from anyone using the trial version of the game. Prior to this people were getting spammed like mad from people who would just install the trial just to advertise their gold site.

I've gotten tells and letters ingame in both EQ2 and WoW. Both games I just ignore the person and send in a report to the GMs.

as others have said, all you can do is type /report name and then follow up with a /petition. Those accounts dont last long, but they just keep getting new ones heh.
