Stuck in Butcherblock Mountains QuestFollow

#1 Dec 31 2006 at 4:28 AM Rating: Decent
I'm a monk doing a quest for pacificator merrick. I just finished with sister sam, and when I go back to him all he says is "come back later when you've learned more". Learned more what? I have no idea what i'm supposed to do. I've meditated next to him for 20 minutes, i've gone into faydark and taken care of some banking business, i even killed a crapload of bugbears and gained 2 levels. However he still just says to come back later. Can someone please tell me what i'm supposed to do so I can move on? Thanks in advance for everyone's time and help. :)

Do you remember what quest the last quest you did for the pacificator Merrick was?

Are you sure you've completed all parts of the quest?

The last one I did for him was to go to see Sister Sam. I had to fight her, then she gave me a sparring bot that I had to fight as well. I broke it and had to go to a gnomeland security to get it fixed. After i did that I went back to her and gave the bot back to her then meditated for a bit. I heard the little "ding" sound sound and saw the message that I had completed, then I saw the message that I was supposed to go back to merrick, so I did. I clicked on him and I can't remember what he said but it was something like "i taught her patience because i'm so noob". I clicked on him again and he says to come back when i've learned more....?

There's a journal online that tells what all the quests are in this quest line, and I know what i'm supposed to do next (go to lesser faydark if I remember correctly). The thing is Merrick isn't telling me to do it. As far as my Quest Journal is concerned, i'm all done with him and have no more quests in Butcherblock. I just don't know what it is i'm supposed to learn (or get or kill or do etc...), and my quest log doesn't say anything at all....?

Hmm, I've never done that quest myself I'm afraid. Done a whole bunch in BB, but none that involved what you are talking about.

Best advice I can offer is to petition it. Or check out the official forums for it, perhaps start a post there?

Maybe it is bugged, sounds like it anyway.

Just thought of something, some quests end with the npc telling you to see someone and then the quest ends, leaving no trace in the quest journal as to what you have to do next to further the quest chain.

If you know where the next step starts, just head there and see if you can continue there.

I was thinking the same thing. I mean, if I want to try and finish this quest I really don't have any alternatives other than to do as you suggested. I also looked at the other Forum and it seems like many peeps are having problems in this quest (a couple of them identicle to mine). Some of them seem to think it's a "gotta be lvl X before proceeding" kinda thing, but nothing is definate as far as a cause/fix. Guess i'll see if I can jump-start it by going to the next step without being prompted to do so. Thanks for your time and help Zieveraar, I appreciate it. :)

If he tells you to come back when you have learned more its probably a level based quest and you need more levels to get the next one.
