EQ to EQ2 transitionFollow

A few years ago, I was actively playing Everquest and had an ArchMage - Conjurer level 60 (Drakkaar) and a Shaman (Skywakker) level 55ish. I truly enjoyed the game, however had to discontinue it due to personal circumstances. Now that I'm more readily available, I'm picking up my game again and looking for some advice.

First, is there a way to get my old characters converted from EQ to EQ2? I do have all of the details, Server, yada, yada, yada although it's been a few years. Having to start all over is a tuff pill to swallow.

Second, how have the Magi and Shaman classes evolved? Since I enjoy playing a caster roll are they still sought after in guilds and groups? Or, is a Wizard-type more preferred?

Third, I'm in the Central part of the US and was looking for the best server that would fit my game plans...level quick, guild access and commraderie. Let's rock and roll and have a great time!

Fourth, do the quests reflect adequate experience points, and are they achievable?

Fifth, what happened to the Vah Shir class? I had begun a warrior class and got him up to level 24ish.

Last, where do I go to locate the trade skill information?

Thanks for your help and taking the time to read this posting...

EQ2traders and here.

No.

Do the quests reflect adequate experience points.

Yes there are 100's of solo and group content type quests. Complete any green* or higher quest for experience points. After L10 AA points are also awarded for completing *blue* or higher quests.

what happened to the Vah Shir class.

You mean the faction group of Kerra in Luclin ? Kerra are still around - not sure about Var Shir - look here.

There is no way, but i tell you its better this way. First the mecanics of the game dosent work the same, so it will let you time to learn how to play whichever class you want. The spells and skills are almost completly different. Also, contrary to everquest, there is great content at all levels now, so you dont want to miss your teens. There is raid content even for low level players. Its alot of fun to just go around a complete quests while you work on getting to the higher levels.

Quests are significant, not only will you gain experience and usable equipments, youll also get a couple laugh.
Youll find alot of souvenir from the EQ original along the way, all in all youll have a great time getting to top level.

Well I finally left my beloved Sigtyr fire flagged 67 shaman and rerolled a new Mystic in EQ2 with the same name and got into my old guild that previously left for EQ2 and that is the best desicions I have done gamingwise in a long time. First leveling up a new character in a new game brings back all the exitement and joy of discovery that you remember from long ago. EQ2 has much better new quests and is more enjoyable to adventure in there are things to do on every level that gives good rewards and you feel like you have accomplished something (compare to EQ1 where I do not think anyone does any of the old quests anymore).

As I say to my old friends, if you are at raid level in a raiding guild and has the time to spend in high end EQ1 do not move as you will have more fun staying where you are. But if you have hit the glass ceiling and are fed up with the regular horrible PU groups in WoS or just sitting LFG for 3 hours without accomplishing anything do move to EQ2 as you will enjoy it immensely. I got fed up with the stress of constantly trying to catch up with the top so you could see and do the "Fun and interesting" stuff in EQ1 but as hard as I tried I could never catch up, as my playing time was limited and there always came a new thing that moved the treshold a bit further away and noone was doing any lower level content anyway.

It ultimately is about you, ask yourself the question "Do I have fun in EQ1 now, and do I get to do the things I want?" If the answers to those questions is no move somewhere else. Of course the same questions should be asked about your gaming experience in EQ 2 and all other hobbys you have. Everquest 1 is a wonderful game if you are high end and have the time if you do lack one of the two, EQ2 is for you.

Sigtyr Level 49 Mystic of the Secret Keepers.
