I've been converted from WOWFollow

I recently gave EQ2 a try after a few years on WOW and I must admit I'm having a blast. There are so many great things about this game not found in WOW (housing, better crafting system, etc).

However that said, I'm curious about a few things and wonder if you feel the same:

PET HEALTH BARS IN GROUP: Why don't pets show as party members so they can be healed easily? This was available in EQ1 so it's hard to believe they don't have it for EQ2. /sigh.

CONCENTRATION: Is the SOLE reason for concentration slots to frustrate the player? As an illusionist, I'm forced to pick and choose between which buffs I bestow upon my party? Hey I got an idea... let me use ALL my hard-earned buffs on my fellow party members. /sigh #2.

DRESSING ROOM: One thing I do wish they'd steal from WOW and use is the "Dressing Room" concept. In WOW, you can CNTL-CLICK any item (whether linked in chat, on auction house, etc) and see what your character would look like wearing it. You can do this even if the item has a level 60 requirement and you are level 3. It's so nice when shopping for a robe, etc to see what it will look like before you throw down your hard-earned cash. Another HUGE benefit would be if you could see what house items would look like in your house before you buy them. Does everyone just do the same thing I do and check out what these house items look like on eqtraders.com or everlook.com prior to buying? If there's a better way, I don't know what it is. /sigh #3.

Don't get me wrong though... I love the game. Just wish it was polished in a few more areas.

Cheers.

sigh #1: :) Well, generally only the caster/owner cares about pet health unless the pet is tanking, in which case everyone should be assisting the pet and will see the pets health, so I see this as a non-issue. Also, depending on your UI settings, the health and mana bar can float over everyones heads if less than full. This allows anyone looking at the fight to see the tank's health.

sigh #2: I see this as intentional design. The devs INTENDED us to choose which buffs to use under which conditions. You always have enough for your group buffs. It is the individual ones you must pick and choose on. What is the point of an individual buff if you can just give it to everyone? So long as the tank holds agro, who else needs them? Each party member has some kind of buff or hate mitigation to use, and how and when to use it is part of the strategy element of the game.

Can't help you with #3 :D

To amplify response to /sigh #1 just a pinch:

I love to group with healers that use group AE heals. That's because it will also hit the pet, which, as reported in the OP, is not obvious to the healer.

Healing the pet is important, because if the Summoner does not manage his agro, or the pet procs an AE and gets group-mob agro, and dies, all agro that was on the pet is now bestowed upon the Summoner. This makes for a wide-eyed Summoner watching fists, claws, and blades come his/her way and bracing for impact. It usually resorts in a dead or near-dead Summoner.

Sure, Summoners should manage their own agro, but things do happen that puts agro on the pet.

To target the pet of a groupmate, tap the F key corresponding to that groupmate twice. First tap is the player, second tap is the pet, repeat cycle.

However, also having played as a healer, I may not have the time to cycle through F-keys checking the health of pets. So if there is a Summoner in the group, I tend to use AE heals more often, especially if the pet is pulling DPS-agro. However, if the tank is about to fall, the fate of the pet and Summoner will be left to the mobs. Tanks keep parties alive. :)

Welcome to EverQuest II. I can understand your frustration about Concentration, I was frustrated at first myself. However, with all the classes in EverQuest II there was a need for such a thing.

The dressing room is a wonderful feature that I hope future games will incorporate.

Oh yea, welcome to EQ2.
