Hi everybody. This is my first post so go easy on me with all the lingo hehe but anyways I'm having trouble actually getting the game to start. I purchased the EQ2 this weekend and it came with all 3 expansions but I'm not sure about the adventure packs. The main problem is that when I get to the launchpad and hit "Play" the mouse cursor changes into the game cursor and then the screen goes black and kicks me back to my desktop. It seems like it wants to launch the game but something is stopping it. Right now I don't have any firewalls blocking it and my connection is going straight to my computer, not through a router. My video card may be the issue, it's NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 version 6.14.10.9371. Does I need a more recent video card? That one was purchased back in 2002/2003 if I remember correctly. I have recently updated DirectX so I don't believe that to be the problem. If it helps, my computer is running off Windows XP Home Edition. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Wow, this is not good..still doesn't work. Yesterday I went to BestBuy and bought a new video card: GeForce7600GS AGP8x

This is the error that appears:

EverquestII has detected and unrecoverable error and must shutdown.

<verify>D:\test\eq2\framework\core\devices\src\DirectX9RenderDevice.cpp(1001):
Failed to create D3D device for NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just for some troubleshooting goodness.

Try rolling back (uninstalling) the new Direct X.

Reboot.

Go to nvidia's website and download the latest drivers for your graphics card. Install them.

Reboot.

Now try reinstalling the newest version of Direct X.

Reboot.

Launch the game and see if it still has issues.
