Hey all, I just purchased EQ2 Friday and still have not been able to experience the game. What's happening is that when I hit the Play button from the launch pad it seems like everything is going fine (mouse cursor turns into the game cursor and then the screen goes black) then it just kicks me right back to my desktop. Occasionally an error message appears which says something about NVIDIA (which is my video card). I ran updates on both DirectX and NVIDIA so as far as I know everything is up to date. If it helps, my computer is running on Microsoft XP home edition. Some advice would be appreciated, thanks.

What video card do you have? It is possible that the card isn't good enough to run the game,which would make the game exit instantly.

It's NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 version 6.14.10.9371. Do I need a more recent video card? That one was purchased back in 2002/2003 if I remember correctly.

And sorry about the double initial post.. I didn't see the first one come up.

Here's a list of supported video cards, it would seem that yours isn't supported.

As far as I know, which is little of computer hardware I must admit, it is likely that this is the problem.

Thanks bro, it looks like I'm gonna have to go out and buy yet another video card lol. I'll go grab one from Best Buy tomorrow. Thanks again.

The MX cards were officially listed as being not able to run it...I had one when I first tried to play the game and can confirm it personally as well. I had to upgrade my card before I was able to play.

Wow, this is not good..still doesn't work. Yesterday I went to BestBuy and bought a new video card: GeForce7600GS AGP8x

This is the error that appears:

EverquestII has detected and unrecoverable error and must shutdown.

<verify>D:\test\eq2\framework\core\devices\src\DirectX9RenderDevice.cpp(1001):
Failed to create D3D device for NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

While I am sure there are plenty of competent people here to help you I would recommend going to the Official EQ2 tech support forums. Help straight from the pros. The responses are usually pretty prompt though it is past CSR hours so you might have to wait until tomorrow morning.

Either way I wish you the best in trying to get it resolved, I know how much of a pain it can be when things don't work right when you have bought a new game.

Also stupid side question (is your directx uptodate)

Hmm as it turns out my directX9 was up to date but not the correct directX...? I downloaded it off a random site because my Windows XP couldn't be validated for some reason but the microsoft site. But yea, I downloaded it again off a different site and it worked =) See you all in the game, big thanks for the support.
