Newbie saying TY and HI to community!!Follow

Hello EQ2 web community (I'll refrain from saying ogaming or allakhazam as I don't want to upset anyone)!

First the TY part:

I decided to pickup EQ2 a few days ago and have since been reading on these boards + a few others for info about the game. Originally, I was going to register and make a "Yet Another Newb Asking Questions" thread but instead decided to spend some time reading everything thats been posted / following links etcetera and the majority of my questions have been answered (*GHASP!* He knows that forums have a search feature!!!). :) I've actually been using Allakhazam and other sites like Stratics/Warcry for years but I've never actually registered and posted lol.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the valuable information posted and thanks to all the other newbies who posted and asked questions not addressed in the FAQ.

I'm new to EQ2. I'm a senior in college. I've played lots of MMOs. I plan to play EQ2 for a while and then pickup EA-Mythic's Warhammer AoR when its released and play both. I'll probably roll on Najena since most of you play there.

Dreaded Wall of Text i.e. long version:

I'm bad with e-introductions (as I'm pretty boring) so here goes nothing. I'm a senior in college majoring in Information Technology/Info. Systems Security. When I'm not in class, partying, asleep, or at a bar or hookah bar, I'm MMO'ing. Its my only hobby, outside playing soccer, and has been since I was roughly 11? I started MMO's with UO pre-UO:R and continued to play AC, DAoC, EQ, AC2, back to DAoC, back to EQ, WoW and now EQ2. Somewhere in there I also played AO (briefly), Planetside, RFO, ROSE Online, Guildwars, SB, DDO (briefly), and EVE Online. I think I'm missing a few but these are the only ones I can remember/see boxes for in my apartment at the moment hehe. I also played HL mod CS from beta 4 through Source off and on with a stint @ the Winter CPL back in 2000, although I haven't played in the last year+. I play ONLY MMO's for the most part, aside from the occasional Smash Brothers / Mario Kart tourney with my roommates.

I've most recently quit WoW as I FINALLY got fed up with the "casual MMO to draw in the most users to make the most money" ideals that most companies have adopted recently (also the pvp revamp, Naxx, and the expac are huge disappointments imo). I know Sony casualified EQ2 as well, but I'm planning on giving it a shot at least until EA-Mythic's Warhammer: AoR is out (*drool*). At that point, I'd like to continue PvE in EQ2 and then PvP in WAR.

After much reading and testing of the combat system in the trial, I've settled on a Fae Conjuror as I understand that they can AE solo very well (i.e. cash maker for later on or for an alt), have *some* utility, and aren't as gear dependant as other classes thanks to the nature of the class (which is a big plus due to reason #1 about cash).

I think I'm going to roll on Najena as its my understanding that many of you forum folk live there? I'd like to try and pickup a guild quickly (if any of you guys are recruiting hint hint:P) as I hate questing/leveling without some guild chat to read/participate in; most of my RL friends are *still* on their WoW kick and I haven't had much luck converting any of them ... damn casual players ><. I have an *incredibly* high playtime as I usually game for a substantial chunk of my week. ^_^

Hi Qixix, rolling on Najena? You have chosen...wisely. And a Conjurer? Again...wisely. :)

You could swing by our guild website (link in my sig), and after reviewing the guild charter, you think Foundation would be right for you, give us a shout. Drop a line in the guild forums and get in touch with one if us in-game (type /who all foundation).

We are guild level 32 and have a large guild hall in South Qeynos at 4 Bayle Ct (mansion nearest the Qeynos Harbor gate) under the name of Squibb. Stop by anytime to take a look.
