I just loaded my Everquest 2 onto a laptop we also own, since I want to bring it with me when I head up north. I loaded and it did its long update and I guess got all the expansions. When I log-in initially, it shows my 3 toons and their lvl but, the drop down that lets you pick which toon to login as says "character select unavailable". The big red PLAY button lights up anyway, and if you click it, once it starts loading up, the computer takes a blue screen error (comes and goes too fast to read what it says, memory condump of some kind). It is a widescreen so im kinda trying to play around with the resolutions but, its more and more seeming to not be the problem. The weird part to me seems the fact that it says "character select unavailable" when it works just fine on my PC next to me. I used my one and only copy of Eq2 but always am making sure one PC is logged in/trying to login at a time. Is this some sort of common problem people have expierienced? I was told it should be cake loading it onto another PC and logging in my toon.

Somethings i've made sure of

- laptop does meet system requirements (duel core, 2gig ram, 7600GO, dx9.0c)
- I got the widescreen resolution set correctly so it should load up into the right one

Im basically confused and unsure whether its a PC/software problem or if the fact that it says character select unavailable - is whats making the game disfunctional and, perhaps why is it saying they're unavaiable when my PC next to me says they are. I don't recall anytime during instal when I was prompted to type in a CDkey....do I need to enter a registration key in?

What version of Windows are you running? I assume its Windows XP but what I'm interested in is whether it is 32 bit or 64 bit (depending on your processor too).

As a quick fix try going to Preferences from the Launch Pad, then Game Settings. Use the lowest graphic setting, lowest resolution, and uncheck Full Screen... basically you want to try to run the game using the lowest possible resources. We can build from there another time.

Also, you aren't getting a character selection because you've not been able to completely log in from your laptop. Once you actually make it to the character selection screen within the game several HTML files are created that the Launch Pad reads an uses within the drop down menu.
